I have been trying to look on the web for info on these but all i can find is them for sale. Anyone have info on which is better and why RJ44 recommended a Reverse instead of a standard in an earlier post. Thanks!

Hey man I've only got a second to respond so I'll have get back to you on this in detail later tonight. But for now I'll give you the short and sweet. A reverse manual valve body will make your auto act extremely similarly to a manual while retaining the good characteristics of an automatic. They kinda suck for daily drivers though.

shift when you want. my brother-in-law has one on his Dodge 440...swears by it. It looks neat.....responds well......and your left foot doesn't get as much of a workout.

But you still have a torque convertor.

I should restate my question while i was searching i found a Reverse Manual Valve Body and a Standard/Forward Manual Valve Body. I wasn't quite clear on the difference except the $50 difference. Does the reverse change the order of the shifts? Just not really sure. Yeah they would suck for a DD just as much as a Manual would I would assume? I am just doing some reading and was wondering thanks for the quick replies guys!

Reverse manual valve body changes the shift pattern to
Park
Reverse
Neutral
First
Second
Third

You MUST shift manually all the time and will have no kickdown function. depending on your motor and torque convertor you can have VERY FIRM shifts even at part throttle. I have run several cars with reverse manual valve bodies, they are great for racing but I found that always chirping the tires with every shift isn't what I wanted on the street. Plus, if I wanted to shift every time myself I would get a four speed ( I eventually did)

Ten-4.. Okay thanks for the clearification. I think I like that shift pattern better if I was manually shifting then if it was the Standard style.
About the barking I doubt I could bark the tires on each shift but I have read about people jumping in their cars and starting them up and not waiting for the RPM's to kick down once the car is warmed up and pealing out and just not being ready for the SUDDEN kick. rustywag nailed it. They are cool for offroad because you can pick the gear and no matter what RPM you hit it will stay in that gear. Also they provide more compression braking I've heard. Can't comfirm that though. Also the reverse pattern facilitates itself to manual shifting instead of having D,2,1 it's 1,2,3.

not sure about the compression braking... i think TCI makes different versions...

drag racers are all about reducing drag, and don't want compression braking, so I think some kits will be worse as far as compression braking is concerned... just hearsay though.. i really know nothing...

From what i have read a lot DON'T have compression braking but some kits do.. But the Compression braking would be very much needed...

Yes, I would say they offer improved compression braking. One issue I had with the rev pattern with my race cars was that at the end of a pass I couldn't shift into Neutral but instead had to go down thru 2nd and 1st. I didn't like imposing that deceleration stress on my driveline, but I also never broke anything so I guess it wasn't that bad. However, I say again that having to make every shift up or down all the time gets annoying.

Do you happen to remember what brand you used? i have seen a few people using a brand called Cheetah.. heard anything about it?

if you get a shift kit that offers stage 3 it will be a man valve body mod
