Question

I can get my hands on a 1976 Blazer front axle complete rotor to rotor. Just wondering if it would bolt in place of a wide track D44.

it will bolt in, but it will be wider and the perches are on top of the axle..

the gear ratio might be different too

sure... but you will gain around 6-7" of lift with it being Spring Over Axle and your FSJ being Spring Under Axle.

now.. what to do about getting the rear to match... hmmm rear shackle flip kit....

Keep in mind.. as said above... ratios might be different

what if you used both the front and rear axles from a blazer? i have been trying to trade for one with a bad body but thought about using the axles under the next project

Your rear axle is already spring over (SOA) so you wouldn't gain any lift simply by swapping axles. You would need to do a shacke flip, get springs with lift or use blocks between the axle and springs.

That's the idea. Spring over, flat top knuckles for high steer, and of course the famed rb rear shackle flip. Maybe run 35's with 4:11's.

Hey, do I need to buy a kit to flip my rear shackles? I thought I could just flip 'em.

I've got a truck here that's height challenged...

Depends on the year.. 76-91 are box style and 75 and older are post mount..

Your profile says you have a 75 Chero.. so you can just flip them.. so to speak. Some have tried and succeeded and used a 2-3" block... others have found that the springs will just revert back to the original location after a good flexin. In that case... you would need a longer main leaf to maintain the shackle in the inverted position.
