ChaChing! Guess what i'm dropping a grand on Friday? a wrecked '86 k-30...

why? one ton wagoneer baby...

I have basically beat the piss out of my one-ton until the Dana 60 is the only thing that is ok. so it is going in the wagoneer and the whole drivetrain out of the new totalled K-30 is going under my truck. still need to source a BBC for it, but i may have a line on a tall deck 427. Oh... and even though the 454 is gone, it has the TBI to convert my truck (same body style so it just plugs right in to lights, gauges, etc.) to EFI...

then I will be putting a TBI 454 and Th-400 with an Np-203/Np-205 doubler in the wag. Talk about beef. now I just need to decide on the tires... TSL? SX? BOGGER?

Excuse me while I go do the Dana 60 HAPPY DANCE!!

Make sure of what your getting as '87 was the first year for TBI in the trucks..... Wow, with your collection of 4x4's I can't believe I didn't hunt you down while I was in Laramie.

Sounds like fun, I'm looking foreward to hopefully meeting up some time once I've moved to Laramie. As for the tires, I say TSL's. In my opinion it's the best all around. Either that or Boggers if it's not going to be street driven too often.

Brad don't get the tall deck 427. Parts are more expensive for them and they are not a high rpm motor like their fellow BBC's. If you need a 454 I might be able to dig one up for you here in Casper.

I was told it was an '86 but I guess it could be an '87. I looked at it when it still had the motor (guy wouldn't give it up without another grand) and it was TBI for sure. I think a grand is a fair price for the Dana 60, let alone the rest of what I need to make my k-30 good again.

AMX, if you could find a decent running 454 for a fair price, i'd be interested. I've got the TBI 454 for my jeep, but it knocks, so i'm looking at a total rebuild on that one ($400 what do you expect)... but it's worth it. I'm thinking:

TBI 454
bored .040
port & polish heads
3 angle valve job and rebuild heads
may need .010 under on the crank
cam that the computer can deal with

63" tractor tires are a little to big for me... i'm only SOA with ~2" in the springs... that's 6" of lift... i've trimmed a lot of fender, but still not going to clear 63's... and 63's are too big for rockwell 2.5 tons let alone one-tons... monster trucks run 63's on 5-ton rockwells...

i'm thinking 40" or under here... preferably a 36"-39" tire
