Anybody know much about these axles? Good, bad, middle of the road?
I assume it's a semi floater. Is the rear diff centered?
I have a chance to pick up a matched set of axles from a mid '80's Dodge 3/4 ton.
Front is a HD44 with new calipers, pads, discs. Rear is a Chrysler 9.25.
Unkown gears.
Not looking to do any heavy wheeling, I'm just building my J3000 into a heavier "work truck" and these would be a very affordable upgrade from my closed knuckle 44 front and Dana 53 rear.

Certainly can't be any worse than what you've got as far as strength goes. Parts should be a lot easier to come by too.

Limited gear ratios available, limited traction adders available, still semi-full float. Its basically like putting a 14C in your rig, except your stuck with the dodge lug patern, instead of a standard 6 or 8 lug. But I dont know of any real problems with them otherwise.

What's different about the Dodge lug pattern? He sent some photos and they look like standard 8-lug to me. Is it a weird size?
I also noticed that the front is a vacuum disconnect axle. Not exactly what I was looking for.
I might just pass on these.

Ahh, if its the 8 lug version rather than the 5 lug version you wouldnt have the problem with the lug patern. The front will also most likely have drive flanges (no hubs) with unit bearings.

I think I'm gonna hold out for a pair of J20 axles like I originally planned...
