Would like some opinions on those of you that have put a throttle body injection set up on a FSJ. I've got a nice 89 GW, but my wife hates to drive it because of "Driveabilty". She won't wait for it to warm a few min. in the winter, it will bog and die sometimes because of that. I may be able to keep her in it if I Install some kind of TBI unit from Holley or TPIguy(sp) or other?
It's either that or get her a Denali she has her eye on! I don't want the payments!
Those of you that have put on injection: what kind?, what problems?, would you do it again? Is a new Edelbrock carb and manifold more cost effective and improved over the factory set up? Sorry this ran on longer than I intended, just looking for some input. Thanks

i went with the holley, a used analog unit made in 91, from ebay. about 300 bucks. plus an edelbrock 4bbl intake, also off ebay, about 130.
the routine in the morning is as follows:
open door, get in, insert key, twist until engine starts (about 2 seconds), put on seatbelt, put in drive, GO!
thats it. hot or cold. day or night.
driveable enough?

--jjp, have you considered one of those gadgets that starts the engine remotely?
--I think car-alarm folks carry these things: saw it for the first time when I was having a new sound system installed @ an Audio-type store. I was sitting in my wag, when the ricer next to me, empty, fired-up. A hundred yards away in the almost empty parking lot, I spotted the guy right away; striding to his little corn-popper with a big grin on his face. He knew he had sand-bagged me, I looked kinda baffled.
--You could start the Wag from the comfort of your kitchen, over that 1st coffee without going outside 'till it was warmed up.
--Just a thought, I love gadgets...

Can the remote engine starter set the choke, or would you have to run a detachable manual choke cable to the house?

That is my usual technique with my XJ! OK I lied, it's more like:
1)Wake up 45 minutes late
2)Shower, Shoot, and Shave in less than 2 minutes.
3)Start XJ
4)Assemble clothes on body.
5)Run out door to warm XJ and FLY to work.
heh..they are fun =) Warm in the winter, cool in the summer!!

I am lucky, my wife is dying for me to restore my FSJ for her to drive everyday, loves carburators, can work on them herself, and prefers hollys
