I'm still farting around with this thing, but can't hang it untill I get the ring gear finished. Anyway, have my cousin coming over to weld a few things, so figure I'll do the shock mounts. I can tell by looking at them that they are too far down and the fat bottom part of my shock will hit b4 the bolt will slide through. I was thinking maybe an inch, but I would like to know for sure. Had to do the same on my AMC20, after getting the lift. Thanks, Dennis

Are you guys going to run a straight up and down config or go with a 45 degree setup for eye dropping flex?

Hey Mark, didn't get the pic. RB, shave that pig!!!! I shaved mine, and it looks as though my 14ff will have the same clearance as my 44. Dennis

I might... not sure yet...

I think I will go 45 degree mounting... need to do research on the proper setup for the 45 though.

What is the 45 degree concept? 45 degrees to what?

Mounting the shocks at a 45* angle allow more travel of the suspension with the same shock than if it were up and down mounted

I am considering using the plates from the front axle that hook up the swaybar links, which have the little studs sticking out. Either that, or use some heavy-gauge angle-iron as my spring-plate, and bolt a shock stud on the side.

Or I may flip the stock shock mount. Still deciding (and waiting for the ceaseless snow to stop and for my poor garage to defrost!).

bob thats kinda how i did mine. i mounted my shocks to my roll cage at the top,and to the spring u bolt plate at the bottom.

they are verticle, and sort of inside the wheelwell.

you can kinda see em here: http://picturecenter.kod ak.com/guest/kpcGUViewLarge.jsp;jsessionid=baab56tJkMKpgS?machi neid=3&invite=6EEr4J5P7YadtU38oQi8&containerID=955 967746&page=4

at ay rate,,kyj10,my advice is to be patient and wait till you hang it and cycle the suspension before you decide on the mounting locations. you have the oportunity to maximize travel with the shocks that you have if you mount em in the right spots. it would suck to get it put in and discover you need an inch longer shock, cause you should have attached the mount 1" higher onthe tube

RB,my 14 bolt only hangs down 1/2 inch lower than my front 44(11" front and 11.5" rear ) i cut just oven an inch off,and still have an unmolested ring gear you can get rid of ALOT of metal down there without resorting to the turn the ring gear and add a plate method.dont forget you are steping down in tire size 1" in radius,so youre losing 1" and adding 1.5" or so under the diff. thats 2.5" of clearance that youll be losing by putting it in without doing any clearancing

the next one i pick up for cheap,i AM gonna hack up and plate, and possibly turn down the ring gear.

bob,i fell for ya onthe snow issue. im waiting for 1 of 2 tings to finish my body mods: a) snow to melt, or b) someone with a garage let me borrow space in it
