Question

Hi Guys,
I know this may be a stupid question that may've been answered somewhere on this site, only, I can't find it. I'd asked a few questions earlier this week regarding squealing drivetrain and received no responses. I suspect the question was overly loaded and I will keep this question simple.

My '77 Wag came with A/C (not currently functioning, but soon I will replace its bad parts (compressor, etc.). My confusion come from the two sets of controls. On the thr left side of the gauge panel is your standard a/c-heat-fan-defrost controls. On the lower dashboard, below and under the steering column, are two pull typ buttons with air flow symbols on them. Under the dash is a black plastic vent system that runs the full underside of the dashboard. There are vents on this piece and another two knobs. One is a fan control knob and the other, I assume, is temperature control.

What are the actual functions of these two sets of knobs? Should there be two sets? Are either my gauge panel or underdash vent system, up(down)grades from different Wagoneer years?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

The 2 dash knobs with the air symbols are the pull controls for the very rare dual choke option...just kidding.
They operate the fresh air vents located on the drive and pass side kick panels near the floor.

Those knobs are actually Cessna 150 throttle controls.

The two A/C controls work as follows:

The one on the right is the temp. Clockwise is cooler, Counterclockwise warmer

The one on the left is the fan control. It should have a P/C (pre-cool) notch as the first position while turning clockwise, then after that notch, continuing to turn clockwise, it's high to low fan on a rheostat mechanism.
