respraying the wag - black cherry code?

am going to have the wagoneer resprayed & cannot find the paint code.

i need the factory code & paint manufacturer for 1989 "black cherry".

Don't know who the paint manuf., prob either DuPont or PPG, those were the big two here then, but most makers have a formula. Will pull the code at work tomorrow and include the PPG formula # (we are using global from ppg)

Hi 18cherokee, the Jeep code is HM2
for 89 Black Cherry. Hope this helps, John

The paint code for "Black Cherry Pearl Metallic" is

oem: FM9
PPG: 4043
Dupont: B8822

Look here : http://www.paintscratch.com/ choose "1989" for year, "Chrysler" for make.
If you choose "Jeep" as the make you will see that Dark Vivid Red Metallic Clearcoat is close, but not the same as the Black Cherry color.

My PPG book shows the FM9 code as Black Cherry Pearl Coat used from 90 to 94, PPG # 4043, as chr1s stated.

The HM2 code is from 89-91 and used on the Eagle and Premier line, and named Dark Cherry Mica Pearl Coat. PPG # for the HM2 is 4038. Go to an auto paint store and take a look at both chips to compare, will be tough as the chips in the books here are about 3/8 by 3/4 inches.
