Ok everyone its time for a new gas tank. My skid plaste is rusted and only bolted in on one side. The other side rusted through and the tank is hanging down on one side. The tank is also rusty as hell so now its time for a replacement.

I am opting for a tank out back and have decided to do the ford bronco fuel tank swap. Anyway I can choose between plastic tank or metal tank. Which is better? Does it really matter? I would think that plastic would be better due to non-rust issues.

Secondly everyone who does the TBI swap says that you should either use the camaro or corvette fuel pumps (In tank) as they produce more power than the stock vehicle TBI pumps. Which is it the camaro or the corvette pump? I have seen different articles on the net and I want to make sure I get the right pump.

Thanks Fellas

Your original tank shouldn't be rusty - it's made of plastic.

You are right spectre. i glanced back under there and the tank is plastic. it is not rusty but the chips from the skidplate (large peices of rusted away metal actually give it the appearance that its rusty. Either way I either have to replace the skidplate or the tank. The tank is actually hanging about three inches below the frame on the side farthest from the frame. And with the roads in D.C. (Which are worse than some offroad trails, I doubt it will tay mounted too much longer.

as for the pump i run a E2182 (kragen p/n) on a fi 454 and it works fine. it puts out like 60psi. tbi only needs about 14psi to be happy.

and they are relatively cheap.
