How to post pictures
Here's a thread on how to post pictures to this board:
1) Get a free Photobucket account
2) Upload your pictures to Photobucket, in a reasonable size, about 900x700 or something. Make the size right before you upload it to PB.
( *Photobucket instructions vary depending on how your account is set up, beta, pro, etc)
3) Click on the picture you want to post from Photobucket so it's in the large viewer.
On the right, there are 4 tabs under "Links to share" or it might say "Share this photo" on the far right. Click on box that says "Direct". Some versions might say 'IMG'. When you click on it, the box should turn yellow and say 'Copied'. See example below:
4) Come back to IFSJA to your thread, and just paste in the box you are typing in. Check that your picture is coming up by hitting Preview Post.
OR...Alternate Instructions: If you have a different version of PB, and using this method, it pastes in your box without being bracketed by the [IMG] on both ends of your link, then use 4A instructions.
4A) Come back here after you have clicked on the 'direct' box on PB and it says 'copied'. Now click on the little postage stamp symbol of mountains above the box.
When you click on this, a new box opens. Delete the 'HTTP' in the new box, and paste in this box. Click ok. It should now show up in your reply box as a [IMG] ******[IMG]
Hopefully this thread will come up when people search for 'How to post pictures'.
If anybody has a different method, you can post it here.

Is it because I have Imageshack that I can only post links and not the actual
pictures?
Didn't really feel like having to start another account just to post..
thanks.

I went to Imagshack to look at some images and see how to do it, but I have to start an account there to look at pictures it seems.
I'm sure there's a way, but I can't tell you how to do it.
If you want to post a link to your imageshack I'll see if I can do it...

Just like Strode said, there is more than one way to do this!!
Upload your images to Photobucket, 640x480 is the best size.
I open two windows: one with Photobucket, the other with the thread.
Copy the direct link in Photobucket
start a reply
click on the yellow icon that looks like a mountain.
Remove the http://
paste the direct link
that’s it.

Someone asked about adding a thumbnail and a link in a post...
Same procedure, add small picture like normal.
Then highlight the thumbnail and click on the link button in editor (little earth w/ chain links) paste in the link to the larger picture or location/page you want to open.

With PB you don't have to click on each picher to get to the links. In the upper left corner of each preview or thumbnail or whatever it's called there are four small horizontal bars. With the mouse over them you get a menu. Click on "Share" for a pop up with the links. Proceed as above.
I find it much faster.
Also, when you click on the mountain button here you don't have to delete the "\\http:" it's already highlighted so just "Ctrl C" and you're done.
You can resize the pics in PB if you don't have another editer.

You don't even really need to use the insert link button. Just copy and paste the [IMG] code directly into where you want the picture in the text box. That's what I do anyways, works just fine.

Since Photobucket is now no longer an option, we need to figure out a workaround. I was trying to post from imgur, but the photos in their original form were enormous. Once I resized them, they stopped displaying in my thread... Anyone more tech savvy than me who can solve this riddle?

I just got my flickr account up and running yesterday. I definitely like that the pictures can be resized via the sharing function. The mobile app leaves a little to be desired, but whatcha gonna do?

try this:
https://imgur.com/upload
After pic is uploaded click the image using tablet or right click if using mouse and copy link. Use yellow picture con on post at this site and paste in ( make sure it doesn't have 2 http 's) then hit submit. Adress link should end with .jpg like this
https://i.imgur.com/B7sURsa.jpg
Tested below..no worries
