So for those of us who don't have the serpentine belt set up, how do we make it work?

probably buy the serpentine system. Not a whole lot when compared to the cost of the supercharger! And how many supercharged engines have you seen with a V belt? Wait wasnt there a mustang with a factory Paxton supercharger in the 60's? Whoa now I got an image in my head of a wagoneer with a "factory" supercharger.

Yes there was a paxton over carb setup in the 60's for Mustangs.

A serpentine conversion is hardly difficult, so would not be a show stopper. My deal with that setup is I really dislike centrifugal super chargers because of their inherent lag compared to a roots type blower.

Don't you have to lower the compression? Surely it's not a simple bolt on upgrade, what aboutincorporating fuel injection?

X2 I'd like to see a roots setup. No need for a special blow through carb.

So did their early Avanti's, twin Paxtons but don't remember what drove them.

All the old paxtons ran V-belts. Don't need a specal carb, if you use a pressure box.

Friend of mine converted a Paxton blower for Chey SB to a Pontiac motor.

He made that aluminum pulley setup, 3" tubing and the waste gate out of PVC.

I just happen to have an 8V71 blower sitting at my folks' place. I think I'll need bigger axles first.

Trailers belong behind trucks, not under them.

Why? Because nobody in the history of 'wheeling has ever said, "good thing I put those smaller tires on my rig."

My guess that the lowly 8.5:1 we have as stock now would good enough.
You would want to go lower if you had 10.5:1

So does a turbocharged car use more gas just driving around with no heavy foot? I'd love to have some on demand extra HP when needed. Sorry I don't know jack about these things..

No. You only start really suckin gas when under boost.

Even the old-fashioned roots and centrifugal blowers don't really hurt your economy that much at part-throttle. The reason forced-induction engines get worse mileage than naturally-aspirated engines is mainly that people just can't resist cutting loose to see what the blower/turbo will do. It's also the reason a 4-bbl carb gets worse mileage than a 2-bbl, people love to hear those secondaries kick open.

Driving style is always the number one cause of poor mileage. Any engine can get better mileage if you drive it for mileage.

My stock turbo Z car actually gets better MPGs than my N/A did, if I keep it under boost, which is a hard thing to do.
