I need new front springs for my 79 J10, hit a massive pothole helping my brother move and bend the passenger side spring. I'm just glad my wheel didn't get bent.

JC Whitney has new leaf springs listed for my truck, has anyone used these, or know anything about them? I personaly hate JC Whitney myself for anything that can be crap, cause if it can, it is often from them.

If I do order I'm getting the "7 Heavy duty Leaf" over the "5 leaf" I'm going to be swapping my 258 for my 360 out of my Wag, as soon as I can find a NV4500 around here. Thats why I am going with the heavier springs.

Will the ride be ruff as hell until I get a little more weight. I am assuming these are basicaly they same springs that are on my Wag.

Also I think it is www.springsandthings.com or something, that lists springs too. I'm guessing they are prolly the same ones, can't be too many people making new stock J10 Springs.

Any input would be great, if its just highly not recomended that I buy these, I'm going to just take all but the main leaf out, and airbag it. That way it will ride nice and get me out of the problem. I did this on a Scout, and it was great. Its just so much more after its all said and done, and alot more maintainance and whatnot.

all j.c . does is have items dropped shipped to you from the various venders they deal with , you will more than likely get rancho springs or some other name, they dont make anything!!just a place to have most auto parts in one magazine, check the web and you will see all the springs for sale, plus a junkyard more than likely will sell you a spring set cheap if that is what you want,or even the for sale section in this forum

Jeeps are always contrary. The 76 TSM lists the heavy duty front spring with two leafs, and the standard spring with five leafs.

New ones are great but if you have a competent spring shop nearby they can repair/repack them . I've had them done this way and they have held up well over the years.
Depending who does it versus how much they know will determine the finished products quality.

JC whitey springs will defintely not be Ranchos. They will be of OK quality - I've bought springs from them for other vehicles, although I recommend you check out www.espo.com instead. Also, make sure to replace BOTH springs at once. In a pinch you can use one spring, but if you're going new, you should always replace in pairs.
