Door upper panel remedy?
On the far passenger side door the upper panel on the door that has
the door pull handle strap this is usually covered in a, as best I can
describe a black plastic shell.
What the best remedy to get this back to looking originalish
Thoughts on refinishing this portion of the door panel.
This may end up going to the dash pad also thoughts

The only ones of mine that has anything in that location in the waggies. They have the woodgrain vinyl sticker there. The rest of them are just painted steel. Dont think I've ever seen a plastic cover for them.

I've wondered if I'm going to keep those on mine when I get it all done.
Are those just "AwGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogley!" handles? Or are they for pulling the door closed?

remedy like they put that stuff down the side buses camo skins
that kinda stuff
like need to find something
http://www.golfcargraphics.com/index.php
carbon fiber wrap something
Definately keeping the pull straps
Its the black stuff on the panel under the pull straps I'm referring too
trying to recognize a good remedy for that panel - refinish

Look at metro styling website
They have numerous colors and patterns, sell it by the yard, same material as the faux wood.

The doors I used for thumper had the vinyl on the top, it is not a decal, it is like a vacuum formed shell. A decal sorta works, I used shelf paper on mine, but you get wrinkles on the bends at the ends of the door.
I have considered applying the decal to a thin rigid plastic, and forming with the help of a heat gun, but have not tired it yet.
Maybe a heavier weight deal could be formed with a heat gun too, that shelf paper I used is super thin, but all i could find locally.

this is actually pretty nice.. its $90 for a 48"x36" sheet.
if it is 48 wide you can cut it into strips ... I think I remember measuring no part longer then 48" on my 73 ... but I could be mistaken.

I am asking myself the same question as I work the doors on my restore. I am afraid to remove it but I have to do something. It is like a plastic material. My wife looked at it and said I could just remove it and recover it in vinyl like I will use for the seats/door panels. I am not so sure. I am kinda stuck wondering what to do next.

Mine had the vinyl
I removed it & painted it for an old school look. Better door pulls are from Range rover

I had a person note to me going this route is thickness of material with working with the door glass window wipes and possible peeling of the ends of the vinyl material on the edges.
Painted is an option although a vinyl decal that looks like the Naugahyde...
I hear you on the factory molded plastic shell originally

You need to consider
Just putting a vinyl without any backing on it would be a little tough. I didn't think it would look right I looked into that & went the way I did because it just work for me.
Just my opinion. Most of the trim was designed before the vinyl went on the doors.

Why not Leatherette?
I've got seat material left over, its pliable leatherette, some strong adhesive spray and its workable, just might do a nice job.
