Roof Skids?

Jeep did make full length roof skids at some point, right?

I'm talking about the sliders on the roof, under the actual rack.

Looking at my Jeep, I'd say so. From what I recall of a few pics of some, I'd say so.

Searching, didn't yield results for me.

I always see the 2/3 length ones, but I'm talking about some that extended past the roof rack, and over the driver's head.

Someone PLEASE confirm this for me.

If they exist, and someone has some, lemme know!

I've never seen them on any of the FSJ's I've owned. Nor have I seen any on any of the FSJ's I've seen in junkyards, either.

I don't think they were a factory option.

Depends

I've never seen full length as far as the whole top of the waggy goes. I've seen full length as far as the luggage rack is concerned. They were the only ones to ever have any kind of skids.

Check into mid 80s suburbans they have the same roof rack, only longer.

This one is still in the junkyard.

Men In Black

I agree with men in Black. Check out the suburban roof rack setups, typically found pretty cheap, at least around here, too much supply around here

And if you wanted you could use the longer side rails also. Just cut them down to size. Not sure why you would want that but the option is there.

Plus the rough cut to shorten could be easily hidden within the bolt down end caps, just make sure you debur(?) them.

Interesting. I didn't know about the suburbans. I'm not interested in the roof rack itself. Just the skids. I'd swear I've seen a pic or two of Waggy's with longer skids, though I admit they may have just been older ones with the roof rack mounted further forward...

What really throws me off is my Cherokee has four holes in the roof (right over the front seats) that line up perfectly with the skids (and each other), and are the right size for the skid screws. I mean, what else could those holes be for? Initially I thought a light bar or something, but they seem rather small, and too perfectly spaced for that...

Maybe mounts for a MIA aftermarket brow/visor? Never seen one up close, but they had to mount somehow.
