impromptu offroading

Scenario: Here in Ok, we got a good amount of rain today, and it lightened up at about 1pm. I'm a hunter, and its nearing the end of muzzleloader season. I figured I'd head out to my lease. Upon arrival, i realized i left my gate keys in my other coveralls. Not a problem, i thought, there are railroad tracks running through part of the property, i'll just drive down those to get to the road to the property(about 500yds of track).

Having hunted this property for 5 yrs, i have never heard nor seen a train.

We all know where this is going.

I look in my rear-view mirror only to see the lights of a train. my only option was to pull off the track. only problem was the space between the woods and the track was not jeep-sized.

so, i kicked it in 4lo, and made a trail through 50yds of thick woods.

i know i was plowing down saplings that were baseball sized. tore off my lower air dam, but thats it.

my waggy continues to surprise me.

I'm glad I'm reading about this here and not on the nightly news about some moron who was trespassing on the RR tracks and got killed.

First, I am glad to hear that you, your Jeep and the train (and engineer) are all fine and none the worse for wear.

Second, "kids, don't ever try this at home".

Third, for Ethan, "Lighten up Francis".

TJ out.

That reminds me of that story someone posted a few years ago where some kid lost control of his '78ish GE Cherokee. It took out a telephone pole and kept going until it nearly plowed through an elementary school. The kid finally shut it down just a few feet away from a classroom.

Glad you're okay!

I have mowed down small trees with my TJ. I learned it from another Jeep owner, but he actually showed my on a ATV.

Let me guess... after all that, the "train" was Wylie E Coyote on a cart with a headlamp.

Wasn't commenting about the legality or condoning it ... I just thought calling another member a moron was a bit much.

Well, I got the joke. Otherwise, we all harbor an inner moron....starting with owning an FSJ in the first place.

I'm just glad he's around to hear me say that.

I am familiar with trains and know just enough to know that they are not to be messed with.
