Dying seats black? Possible?

So I found a late model cordovan interior GW at the junkyard with a literally FLAWLESS interior. Im gonna take the seats for my 87 and then use my current 87s seats in my 82. I was just thinking... could i dye the red seats black to match interior on my 82? Sounds possible to me. Anyond done it?

I tried that with a blazer years ago and was less than pleased with the results. It looked fine when I did it but in a very short time the color started coming off

get the leather dye from Tandy leather. Make sure to seal it as well.

What sort of sealant? Are the seats actually leather? I figured it was vinyl.

The top and back of the seat surrounding the fabric inserts is leather. The sides are vinyl.

totally possible - I did an entire mercedes vinyl interior with spray dye from Tower Upholstery 10 yrs ago, it lasted 5+ years until junked. Then I used another shade on a tan leather Mercedes and it is still going strong.

The key is to use a crack filler/sealer on the fine cracks that end up in leather in the Colorado climate. Then use the dye.

Awesome. Late model GW seats are my favorite automobile seat, so im glad ill be able to make them match. They just work with my back i guess
