Holley Avenger - rebuild
Help ! never messed with one before, a 2150 I can do in 30-45 min (if clean) but a Holley - no clue.
A friend looked it over and said at the very least power valve and acc pump were shot. idles fine, but no shot when you stomp on it and it is trickling fuel via the power valve.
Is there a recommended kit and an online rebuild reference ???
thanks
ps - this is on my Jeepster not the FSJ

You can get the kit from Holley, which I would suggest over some 3rd party kit.
Changing the power valve and accelerator pump won't be too tough. Sounds like you are pretty decent at carbs, and the 2150 is a Holley design built for Motorcraft.
I am sure a google search could find some rebuild instructions. Don't have any myself.

ok, just learned that a standard Holley double pumper rebuild kit (37-485) will have all I need for this. I assume the jets, spring loaded needle and such are the difference but the bulk of the gaskets and o-rings are the same ??
here goes, 8 hrs to Holy Cross and counting down

That should work. Most important thing is remembering how they come apt. Be sure to clean thouroughly.
These are very similar to other Holley.
I just saw this on another thread & it has some interesting videos. I didn't see any exactly specific but I did see some good practices that would get you through. Good luck.

If you can't make it better why waste your time. No use repeating the orignal mistakes. I'm to old to push it that's why.

One thing that is awesome about the Holley TA is that they come with the expensive blue gaskets, which are reuseable. If you don't overtighten the end bowls then you can reuse the blue gaskets dozens of times. Manually push the arm on the accelerator pump and see if it shoots fuel in the carb. If not, the small (very fragile) diaphram inside it is shot. My guess is that the power valve is clogged, but that is just a guess, from the description. The TA is the easiest aftermarket carb to work on. It has all the best parts already on it. Most Holley parts are interchangeable between the models like jets, power valves, secondary springs etc. If you can rebuild an OEM carb, this will be snap.

The rebuild kit listed for the T/A has a power valve, acc pump, and all the other parts needed. There around $30-40, I wouldnt get a double pumper one it may not have the correct gaskets, my friend bought a double pumper one by mistake and it didn't have the correct parts but since he opened it, it was no longer returnable.
Edit: here's a link to the T/A rebuild kit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-37-936

I know, I pulled the same number, BUT no store here has that in stock. Seems to be a direct order from a speed shop or Holley.
At least for the parts I need to replace the 37-485 had the primary bowl and metering block gaskets (the blue ones) and an assortment of power valves (I selected the 4.5 one for Denver altitude) and acc pump diaphgrams. If I were going to do a complete rebuild I will take your advice and look for a 37-936
The commando is getting TBI'd next month, so this is just a temporary measure.
thanks
