A few pictures from the camping trip...
Just figured I'd post up.
Regardless of the jeep issues I had a pretty good time, I love going out to northern nevada, it's an area alot of people dont see. It honestly made me sick when i came around the turn on the I-15 and could see Las Vegas. I wanted to turn my broken-arsed jeep around and head back to the mtns.
I cant wait to get out of this city...but I digress. Enjoy.
There was alot of this....just miles and miles of nothing, but it's so beautiful at the same time.
View from Ward Charcoal Ovens State Park
The ovens:
Again, alot of this:
Old mining outfit just outside of the city, kinda deep into the hills but a well known location. This is where I broke down the first time due to the carb running dry somehow.
Officially have taken it camping now. Crazy that it took a year of ownership to use it for the purpose I purchased it.
Anyway, all trouble aside, it was a good trip. I was an 'experience' thats for sure. I've never actually broken down anywhere before, so it was a first for me...and then a second...and then a third, and then a fourth, haha.

Great pictures. I can see people thinking you're one of the local's with your Wag.
If you've never broken down, you must never owned a Jeep before.

They don't call it the Basin and Range Province for the fun of it!
Crazy though, thats a lot of tectonic uplift.

Yup. Aka "horst and graben" topology.

Wikipedia says "extensions" - I don't think that "extension" means "uplift" - but I'm not a geologist!

Call me shallow
but pictures beat the hell out of a bunch of blah blah blah. Glad you used the jeep, seems like the typical comments are: wish i could have but this or that is broken.
envious
me and my buddies are planning a weekend of wheeling in the N ga mountains this fall. Forest service roads will be fun

Ever driven I-80 across northern Nevada? It looks the same...only with less green stuff.

These are my 2 favorite pictures
I know people love to see the ocean, dont get me wrong, I practically live in the Atlantic and Chesapeake Bay right on thru Christmas.....but I would love some vistas like you have, the desolation is WAAAAYY cool!
Sounds like some minor tuning issues but a great trip- NICE!!
Thanks for the pics!!

Thanks for posting the pictures. I'm from southern Idaho and went to school in Elko, NV. I love high desert. It really is beautiful once you get past the barrenness.

That is very similar to parts of Arizona. I could never move, I would miss the country too much. I feel the same way you do heading back into Phoenix. But the work is in the city and so we adjust.

thanks for the compliments guys, it really was a fun trip. As i said, it was definitely an 'experience' with the jeep issues, but hey, it got me home in the end, right? Not really any worse for the wear, either.

Those are some nice pictures. that trip looked like fun. i went camping out around that area a couple years back and it was a cool trip and even cooler area. i'm more of a mountains and trees guy myself, but the desert is also cool. much more open areas to wheel
