Show me the cash that's twice what I have into it (I won't count labor) and watch how fast it leaves my yard.

No disrespect intended.
I'd do it all over again, I'd just start with something from the '88-91 era.

Well, my Jeeps have a value to me, regardless of what the market values them at.

If someone offered me twice what my internal price is, I'd have to think about it. I'd either sell it, or increase my price.

Of course, this would all change based on circumstances... job, health, etc.

I'd sell my J10 for double its value. I paid $6500 for a mostly restored truck. I helped with the restoration and everything done, was done correctly. If I were offered double, I'd take it. Then I'd buy an early 4 door Cherokee and a Kaiser and start over.

Double what I paid for it? No way!! For 25-30K absolutely! I pick up a couple more and maybe a Cherokee Chief and a J10 or 20. Then I'd sell my DD lifted 98 Chero.

I've owned my truck since 1987 and paid $4200 for it bone stock. It'll never leave my possession for any price. Try to find another one.

Any other J-truck would be tough. Depends on the condition and rarity of it. If it were anything in Tonka's collection I would have to decline.

If it were a woodgrain Wag it would be gone in a second as they're still a dime a dozen. Pre-'78 Wag might be a little different and a Kaiser era would be a definate keeper.

I am not even finished and I wouldnt let my project go. I can bust my butt for a cpl months and make the 6-8k. I cant replace my emotions in building it, hunting up the parts, the heartache when that other member beats you to a part you desperately need. Nah not for double. You get into the high teens though and its out of here!

What he said.

Everything is for sale. Sometimes the price we want is just way more than anyone will give us. Sometimes not.

I don't even consider my 89 wag all that nice, even if I paint it. No is getting it though. That goes for all my vehicles except for the 07 Colorado.

If someone offered me $4k cash today, I'd give 'em the keys and the title. That being said, I'd probably turn around and use the money to buy a Deuce and a half so I could bob it, and such... Or go buy one of those stock late 80s waggies I see popping up on CL for $1k every few weeks...

If hat question was posed to my wife I would probably be looking for another one. For me heck no! I can't give up the last fabric of my deployed existence. The price I paid in pissing off the wife when I told her to go pay for it.... priceless .

What is "worth" worth?

Lets see. For my '88 I paid $2500 originally....$1500 into engine overhaul, another $1K into exhaust and all the engine accessories....$450 into used tranny...$250 into partial tranny overhaul....$500 into misc....totals $6200. But then there's the hundreds of hours of personal labor, blood, sweat and tears..and still significant body/chassis rust work to go.

See, the problem is establishing what it worth on the market vs. what it's worth to the current owner. I'm clearly "upside down" on market value vs. worth to me.

Me too, and either buy one equal to the value of mine plus a crapload of parts, or two worth what mine was worth, or four a quarter of what mine was worth, and well you get the idea.

One of my sons gave it to me. It'll stay in the family. I was offered 4,000 for it this spring. Plus it is just too much fun and often the only working 4x4 at the ranch unless the Cherk is visiting.

Red face Keep it.

I have to say no to selling my wagon. The value of my wagon would not even cover all the shipping fees I have spent in gathering parts. LOL.

Hmm. If someone had cash in hand. Yes. I'm not married to them and the cash would do two things: Get me into a ( one! ) nice jeep and give me my driveway and garage space back.
So sure. I would pretend to not wanna sell but would not drag my feet in doing so.

Money talks and bullcorn walks. When these rigs aren't for sale, is when someone offer's you the denero. The 79 Honcho drew some attention, and one day I said "show me the cash"

It never appeared.

If I could've gotten half of what I had invested in my last 2 rigs (less labor) I may've smiled more.

But, we all know these trucks aren't about turning a profit.

I guess it all depends on what you have into it.
I have 3 Jeeps and each one was purchased way under what they are actually worth.
I would sell the 90 GW for twice what I have into it because I have to many projects.
I turned down two legitimate offers on the J truck that are more than twice what I paid for it. - If I had another FSJ to abuse at the moment it would have been sold on the spot.
My Cherokee was purchased for 10% of what I could make parting it out. It however is the only one I wouldn't sell at the moment as I have this crazy idea on making it a daily driver. It is also the one that I will never get my money back out of. The Chevy drivetrain cost me 3x what I paid for the Cherokee alone.
