Love it

Both my boys are young and really are unable to help and hold their attention very long. But both love jeeps as they get older I wish to do this with both of them.

Congrats on the bounding build as I call them. Keep us up to date.

I had a '67 when I was a teen and I purchased an '87 for my son as a project. He's always worked on my junk and road the trails but it's a whole different story (interest) when they get their own Jeep.

The paint is almost finished but he keeps tearing it up faster than we can do the repairs :-)

I can't wait until mine is old enough too.

Good Luck!

Absolutely magic

My youngest son of 6 wound up being very difficult. Left the house on bad terms when he was 18. I bought the Cherokee since we were empty nesters & started to rebuild it. He started showing up & then wanted to make his Cavaleir a project. He moved back home & would sleep all day when he left. If he heard me getting up to go outside he was out the door & either helping me or banging on his Cavalier. Friend Nieghbors Relatives ask WHAT IN THE HECK HAPPENED???? Mom who was mad because we didn't get along is a little bit jealous at this point.
He fixed up his Cavalier sold it made Good Money & now is prodding me to help him with a mustang he bought to do the same thing. You simply can not beat the quality time this type of interaction creates. I learned far more than he did about us by simply seeing he was just like me when I was that age. The common goal created the distraction to keep me from getting in the way of the relationship. I never would have realized that if it were not for the Projects. Once again I was reminded relationships just don't happen.

Welcome! Question, why relocate the springs? The post mount springs make for a pretty good ride and give more stability off road.

The frame is pretty wide - with the springs outboard (stock location) the springs are wider than the drums on my 14-bolt that I'm putting in. In the front, the outboard springs limit turning radius a bit as well. With the stock closed knuckle its not much of a problem, because the closed knuckle already limits turning radius. If you swap that out, it's pretty easy to get the tires into the springs.

Thumbs up

That makes sense. The drums on the 14 bolts are huge.

My dad started my obsession with Jeeps, with his help we purchased a 78 Chero for my first ride and when it bit the dust he helped me aquire an 84 Waggy and stuff a 401 down its throat. I'm a Jeep lover for life. Sounds like yall will have quite a good project ahead.
