Exclamation Problems Signing Up?

EDIT by Tad:

Wow, this is quite bad.
We are getting 6-10 registrations per day that are still awaiting email confirmations.

Some of that is user error, some are the typical spambots, some of that is related to aggressive blocking of email by servers and some of it is our mess.

If you have registered and are not receiving the email verification please PM me.
http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/priva...o=newpm&u=1931

As of right now I am the only admin that can fix this manually. Please also be advised that this problem may linger and I will be in Ouray all next week.

I really want to thank Gary's Addiction for the wake up call.

Thanks,
Tad

I'm seeing a lot of posts on the Yahoo FSJ Mailing list with complaints from users there who are having issues signing up for accounts here. Is this a real or known issue?

It's real and known.
For some reason Yahoo users can not get the email verification sent from us (there may be other systems out there blocking our email also).
I have to manually process them at the rate of about 2-3 per week.

If they have registered correctly they will be able to see the board (but not post) and they will be able to send a PM to me. From that point I will process them.

Thanks,
Tad

EDIT: gmail users also.

TAD ... or any other Mods ....

Is this the same problem that is affecting the notifier about responses to threads?

And is it something that will be fixed?

I have to keep diggin thru the forums to see if anything I have "subscribed" to has seen any new posts.

TIA

I don't think so.
Yahoo, gmail and others have become increasingly aggressive about blocking emails. ifsja.org may be on some spam list someplace but I have yet to see/verify that.

Probably not, at least at this point I am not real optimistic about it.

I know, it sucks. Try book marking the threads and checking them manually.

Tigger, I asked Tad the same question not even a week ago, so I'll answer so doesn't have to answer it again. Our BB software is outdated and hasn't even been supported for at least 5 years. The mods are working on updating it since it's having significant comparability issues, but are working very hard to minimize the inevitable data dump. After Ouray they are going to start shaking things up.

Just want to thank Tad for getting me up and running. I am a yahoo user and have been unable to post or look at images for sometime. So I have become a huge lurker.

I will properly introduce myself in another thread with a pic of my '88 Waggy. My best friend got me into to this vehicle as a loaner when I destroyed some bearings in my 06 Charger. While he was rebuilding my engine I was driving the Waggy and now I am hooked. My free time is spent trying to figure out what to do next....

Welcome godaddy! I'm sure you've been warned, we love pics. It's almost sick how much we love pics. Put them up....now. Right now. Do it, do it, do it!

I'm glad Tad got you up and running, and get used to that feeling, it ebbs and flows, but never goes away. What to fix or what to make better on your FSJ will fill your free thoughts for the rest of your life!

Thanks for posting the question and thanks Tad for fixing my account.
This is my first post here and I'm sure that there will be more.

The issue(s) with ifsja.org email sound like a reverse DNS problem?

Typical with shared web servers (servers that share an IP address).

If a mail server can't do a reverse lookup on a domain, the email can get blocked/bounced/stalled in queue/etc.

Might not be an issue, but I used to see it all the time...

Part of our issue is that we can't do any repairs, maintenance or anything else to or with the board software. We don't have access to maintain it properly.

Tony, Tom,
I'm trying to push that info to the only person that has access to the server, that person is not me.

Mike,
When she figures it out have her PM me. Or you can PM me the email address and I'll try to find it that way.

I do believe you have to have a certain number of posts in order to be able to access Off Topic ... IIRC it was 600.
