Wheres the coolest place?
Where is the coolest place you've been in your FSJ?
Right now my GW is up on blocks and I just found another issue with my lift kit that is going to keep me from getting it back on the road for another weekend. Im really tired of working on my rig. I need some motivation to keep me going.
So if you have pics of your favorite trip in your FSJ, please post them! A little back story about the trip will be even better.
Thanks in advance,
capdaddy

I drove my Cherokee from VA to SoCal last summer, saw a lot of cool sights. It was a lot of fun!

Well last winter I drove onto a large untouched soccer field after a foot of snow. It was super clear and quiet. Coolest my wagoneer has looked anyways!

Top of Tellico Gap here in western NC, after about 10 inches of snow. Lots of nasty switchbacks with no barriers, but the views were awesome!

I have been to many neat places with the various FSJ's I've owned. I think one of my favorites will always be Colorado.

Never been east of Memphis
Here in Ca. there is more cool in one tank range than just about anywhere. That said Utah is a place I could get lost in for months and the same for My home state of Colorado. If You need inspiration look west young man! I'm not dissing the east, I just don't have a guide to point out all the cool stuff hidden away behind all those trees that look so cool in the fall.

fifth try
I've re- sized ,re-named and still it won't upload so imagine if you will a "63 waggy with badly faded light green paint and gold doors Parked by a mountian stream of crysytal clear water among tall pine and red oak trees. The sky is a beautiful shade of deep blue and a small boy is running though the frame.

I've been a lot of places over the years. Almost half the states west of the Mississippi and a couple east of it. Usually not in a FSJ, but a LOT of places. I always find myself longing for "home" though. Lander Valley, Wyoming. This is one of only a few parts of the state that has actual trails that aren't on private property. I've only been to Shoshoni Lake twice in my life. The first time I was six, riding in my grandpa's Willys. Last time was two years ago in my J10. I keep getting told you can't get there in a stock rig but, I've never been there in a lifted one!

Of course, not mine and when Black Bear road was a little less developed.
However it was a cool trip down it. Other than that, the area where I elk hunt every year is pretty decent.

Here are a couple

Not much in the way of scenery as I was sticking to the main highways the whole time crapping my pants hoping the old POS would make it lol Plus I was on the Navy's time and dime so I had to get there in a certain amount of time. The old girl made it though without a problem and time to spare!

My old mining claims up above timberline (avatar pic). I've lived up there off and on since the '70s, sometimes in the Jeep because the roof on the cabin has been going downhill for 130 years (literally -- I keep finding pieces of it down-valley). Sadly, that all belongs to Dear Ex now, and I live down below in the trees.

Grand W&P that is a sweet pic! definitely makes me want to finish up and head west.
Im sorry to hear Johnson that your mining claim is no longer yours... reminds me of an old country song... went something like "she got the goldmine, and i got the shaft"

If you get here, you have been in high places and probably in a FSJ.

The coolest place i ever have been in my J20 (the only driving FSJ iv had) was west branch Michigan. It was last fall and me and a couple of buddies decided to go check out this j20 i wanted for parts that was in skidway lake MI about 10 mins south of west branch, when we get out there the truck ran decent the body was rusted alost completely away (cab floor was made of layers of fiberglass and aluminum ), its lights didnt work, and it proly hadn't been plated or registered in like 20 years. But never the less i decide to buy and to drive it 3 hours back to kingsley michigan where i live. So we leave skidway lake and go to the first gas station about 5mins away to fill up (had a 5gallon boat tank) and when we go to leave the truck wont start, a quick jump fixes that and we are on our way. We make it to down town west branch about 200feet form the state police post when the truck dies agian, at this point i try and whip into the first parking lot but i only make it about half way into the drive. Now the truck was quadratrac so there is stayed (dont know if it was just this truck or all quadratrc but when it wasnt running you couldnt hardly push it with people even in neutral, let alone up the slight bank of the drive) and we tried to get it running prayed someone would stop to help and what do you know who out of the 50 some trucks that went by and countless cars stops? Yea a cop, so no we have a completely junk truck with no plates or registration that is broke down in half in the road and a police office pulling in who does not look so pleased. So he pulls in (the other drive to the front of the truck) and gets out walks up to us and starts going through the routine... it went something like this.. Officer-who are you. Me-Coleman Jones from Kingsley mi (as i and my buddies had him our license), Officer-what are you doing? Me-trying to get this truck i just got home, Officer- hmm and why is the truck half in the road? Me- well it died... but it was running great when we got it. So this goes on like that for a little bit and the the officer offers to push the truck into the drive way after we explain to him that we couldnt push it even if he was helping. So he pulls around to the back were i the relies he will notice that there is no license plate or registration. But he pushes the truck into the drive with he crown vick and doesnt mention a thing. At this point i pop the hood and he pulls around to see if he can give us a jump, so i strat hooking up the cables while he stands next to me and watches, i then tell my buddy to give it a try. At this point i remember around the same time he starts to turn the key that the trucks exhaust also doesn't happen to be actually connected to the manifolds more or less kinds just sitting there like it is... i know alot of you have a pretty good idea what a 360 with open manifolds fires with the gas mashed and i also know that you guys can imagine the look on th officers face as the proverbial indy car roars in font of us while im yelling at him with a stupid deerinheadlightsmanilikethesoundofthatengine look on myface about how the exhaust is kinda leaky. So i drop the hood, the officer asks me where im taking the thing and as im telling him we are gunna try and beat feet home the truck dies again and my heart stops. Now i dont really know what he could have done in this position but il tell you what he did... he asked me if i could have the truck out of the lot by tomorrow morning and i eagerly told him that we would for sure if he would let us, and he paused for a sec looked at the truck looked over his back up the road at the police station looked at the three of us back at the truck then, quickly said well guess you guys better get to it, hoped in the vic and blasted off down the road. At this point we hoped in the car started calling everyone we knew back home with a trailer and managed to get it home at about 3 in the morning. After that the truck never left my place until i sold it this spring. I guess that makes it tho only place i have really ever driven my FSJ's but it probably will always be the best.
no pics of the trip
but here is the truck that winter after we put a new battery and terminals in...
