Welcome from NE Oregon! I have searched a lot for parts, and on here the place that keeps coming up is www.bjsoffroad.com, I just put in an order for several parts there, so I will let you know how the service is.

Welcome

Sounds like a great project truck for here in Montana. I am new also to the group here, but live in Ronan, MT. I haven't done much work on my 1985 J20 yet, all the parts I have needed so far I just get at NAPA. It seems that most savings that you get at other places is lost in shipping costs, and supporting my neighbors business really has paybacks in a small town. I needed one hard to find part, a gas fill hose, but just did a search on line and got a new one. Welcome to the group.

Wow, nice straight lookin' truck. Welcome! Saw 2 GWs today in Colville, Wa.
Even with gas prices soooo high, nice to see these old rigs still going.

My folks live West of Kalispell and I often peruse the Montana Craigslist postings. I stumbled upon this one a couple weeks back. Someone else posted this truck in the online for sale section and there was speculation that the bed is from a later model. I was also under the impression that the 327 lasted only until 68-69. Might be interesting to run the VIN and see what comes up on that truck. Nice score though

I did a little research on it and itwas supposed to have the dauntless 350. But i checked and it is the vigilante 327 that's in it. So i believe whoever had it before did an engine swap. If anybody else wants to run it just to double check for me the VIN is 3407Z193xxxxx.

What I got on it was:

34 = 68-71 J-4000 4WD
07 = 68-70 Camper Special
Z = 68-71 8000lb GVW
1 = 65-71 Left Hand Drive
9 = 68-70 V8 327/V8 350 w/Smog
3xxxxx = V8 350

As for the bed... Im just glad its got one. It's gonna get a good coat of flat black primer and bed coating anyway. ;-)

Nice score! You could find a tail light at the Jeep Ranch in Plains. Their number is 741-5337. We have sold them a couple parts rigs over the years. Good luck

Truck, title, and lots of parts. Need shocks, battery, u-joints, and bucket seats.
More Pix...

This thing was a B***H to get on and off the trailer we hauled it on. We jerked it off the trailer when we pulled it up. Then, one of our straps snapped while hauling it and when we went to take it off the trailer it rolled forward and landed right on the tongue and trailer jack. It took 2 hours of jacking the frame and shimmin it up and my neighbor's blazer to get it off. But it was well worth the pain and frustration.

Congrats on the Jtruck. Lots of potential there. Looks like it might be a 8000 GVW and so it may have been a camper special. The bed is from a 73 or newer Jtruck because of the long lights. That would be D60 rear and D44 front axle. Have fun with it.

Thanks for the double check.

Anybody know which wiring harness I need? If so, anybody got the connectors? I can get the wire.
