Frame similarities on old & new(er) Wags

I would like to have a 1970 Wagoneer & was wondering if the frames on the "Dauntless" years are the same as the later ones (I have an '82 now).

Any info would be great - Thanks!

In a word, no. Early frames were setup for post mount springs until the mid 70s. Those are the most obvious changes.

Cross members are different in location and style (except for trans), front of frame is boxed different, shock mounts are different, steering box location is slightly different along with the mount, front spring distance is shorter and a little narrower.
I'm sure I can think of more as I have both a 70 and 82 frame here.
If given the choice I would use the 82 frame.

EDIT:
Body mounts are way different between the two.
