Grand Wagoneers for over $10k ???
I have a 1991 Grand Wagoneer with only a little over 65k mile on it. Got it for a good price, nice ride and all. But was looking on oodle, and the prices they are asking on their rides were over $10k !! Here's the site:
http://cars.oodle.com/jeep-grand_wagoneer/
They may be nice rides, but....
What do you all think? I was going to trade mine for an '82 Cherokee...but now...hmmm...maybe I should just keep it?? Decisions, decisions.

i don'k know about the others but for that price the 2004 Grand "Wagoneer" is a steal, that's got to be a rare ride

I saw a 87 sell for over 15 grand on a Mecum car auction. Wasn't even that nice and alot of it was brand new. I think new paint can hide alot.

Just think how much the new paint alone cost...if it was done right.
That's the problem with spending a ton of coin on one, you don't know what was done or if it was done right. It's like people who say the engine is rebuilt and it's really just new gaskets.

Isn't that the truth! I have several thousand dollars in paint supplies for the "paint job" on my 442!

Asking and selling are totally different things. Sure some sell for a lot, but then some never sell. There are a lot of old farts that think they will retire on something that you can buy for under a $1,000 all day long.

We just paid 9k last year. Great interior. Paint wasn't a 10, very close. turns out with the commercials and media the Waggys are getting , it's the "new" thing to have for the "upper crust". but boy are we pouring $ into it. Tranny rebuild has to be done. Changed valve cvr. ,intale and timing gaskets. New chain,waterpump-you know the usual-for a Jeep. But I'll tell ya, this thing is so clean inside(block) I think you could eat off it!!!!
At least my Buicks are all overlooked as Grand pa cars. Even when they are Stage 1 455s....

I paid just under that. I think most sell in the spectrum between $200 and $10,000 depending on if they are mostly original, clean, milage and options.

I'll have to upload the picture I took on my cellphone of a GW I saw for sale here on LI. It was pretty clean, looked to be restored or at least refreshed, pretty clean black paint on everything underneath, but the price was way high, like higher than the original MSRP, I couldn't believe it when I looked at it. I could agree with 10-15k for a mint GW or a properly restored one, maybe 20k for a mint/restored GW with many nice upgrades, but no way is a plain old GW worth more than it's original MSRP unless it's one of the very last 91's in 100% showroom condition with no miles.

As a guy with a GW sitting in his garage - I for one hope they get every penny.
I paid 8k for an '89 with 66,000 miles. Really nice Baltic Blue metallic paint and the sand interior. I have put about $1k into it. Probably should have gotten it for less but its the right color combo that I wanted and good mileage. The previous poster that said the value is going up due to commercials and the like is correct, in my opinion. There is definitely a movement that these are the "cool" things to have and I can't count how many times I have been told "I have been searching but its tough to find a good one in this area"
Resale price is for my wife to worry about after I'm dead.

I just spent 8k on my waggy - parts/tires/wheels/axles/atlas/driveshafts/etc
I bet I couldn't get $1500 for it and the body is in great shape and it runs like a top.
