j20 should I buy it.. pics are here

ok so I can go pick this up for $1000.oo
running 360, 4 speed.
d60, 44 front. owner said its been in the family sensne new.
told me I can have it for $1000.oo
j trucks and waggys are far and few between here so when one comes up if you dont buy it it goes to someone elts to sit in their yard or crushed..
I am realy thinking about it but man it seems like a lot of money.
I was told the frame is good never been touched.
anyway would you buy it? Or is a grand way to much?

If the cab is not rusted thru, and you can drive in all gear and the low range is working... this is a deal... it has points so easy to debug until you put something elselooks like a 73-74?

The bed looks done for...and the power steering fluid has leaked all over,...may be offer $800.... check the frame and the gas tank hoses... What are you going to do with it....?

85 Gwag, 210 Kmiles. $250 FSJ test lab since 02, that refuses to give up but still leaks.

he actualy said $1200 and I said to much and he came back with $1000 or it will stay here...LOL
the box I am told was striped of its paint last summer and not even primed. thats why it looks bad.
I am told the cab is in good shape no holes..
as far as a plan I think I would use the frame if its good to build the 4dr j truck with. as far as all gears working my buddy that knows the owner tells me the use the truck on the farm and have for the last few years and everything works..
I have not seen the truck as its a 5 hour drive to see it. If I am going I will take the float and bring it home...LOL

my buddy has a bunch of more pic's and will send them to me... I will post as I get them..

Maybe worth a $500 scarcity premium in NB. Depends on how much you want a J-truck and how much effort you are willing to put into it.

Looks like the bed has settled wrt the cab ... or maybe it's just sitting on the frame.

I hear ya but like I said here they are so few jeep trucks nad waggys that its hard to pass up.
I know of 3 j10s here that are on the road. I have one of them. and 1 being fixed
I know of 2 wagoneers on the road. I own one of them. one being fixed for the road makes 3
I know of 2 woods buggy waggys.
and I know of 3 people that have some parts or wwhats left of `1`fsj's
so like I said when one comes up its hard to pass it up.
I have a bunch of parts fsjs but its a j20 with a good 4 spped, running 360, and d60 rear... I am sure I am going to scrap up soem cash over the next month and go get it....

I have one that I drive, I have parts j trucks, I have a 76 taht I use for a plow truck rated at 2500lb and has the levis int...
its not a case of want its a case of need...LOL maybe its only good for parts to keep my others running.
if i was to go find and engine if I needed one at some time it would be hard to find here and would be a $1000 when I did find one..

That's a $500 truck at VERY best...I don't care how rare it is. Let it rot in his yard if he thinks it's worth so much. I've learned the hard way to walk away from the bad ones. Patience is a virtue.

What's the prospect of bringing one in from the States?

I'd pay $250-$300 max.

LOTS of work to be done there. Especially since it has clearly been sitting outside for a while.

well I can but the ones anywhere near me are a grand or more and look the same.
not much to bring accross as its old so no biggy their inless it has ac and then is $100.oo
one big problem with importing from us is that alot of trucks in Maine do not have a title so when I bring it to the boarder i would have to say its just parts and if I did decide I wanted to fix it I can not ever regerster it here for the road.
If I buy soemthing in the west of usa its around a grand to have it brought to Maine so I can bring it over...
eather way I am into a bunch of more money....
thier is a j truck and a waggy in the back of a guys house about an hour from me in Maine USA that I have to go see about. not sure what they are or anything as i guy just told me about them the other day.

You've obviously decided this is a deal for you. You weren't looking for opinions you're looking for confirmation so..yeah go buy the thing for a grand but come back after 10,000 miles and give us a follow up on your "deal"

My rule of thumb on these things is 500 and up better be a Jeep I can drive away in. I have paid as little as 400 for a runner in the past 5 years and have been given several non runners and parts rigs. We have lots of them around here still, no brag - just fact. I would have a hard time being addicted to FSJs if I lived in rust country because I hates that stuff. If it is a plow truck, it could be worn out unless someone was good at keeping the running gear working right. I am also thinking out loud.

yeah I understand what your saying. I was giving the 2dr for just hauling it away.
I did not pay a grand for my 90 thats in great shap.
I was jsut asking for thoughts and i know where some of you guys are their are lots of trucks and parts but here we have to take what is out their..
I am going to talk to the owner and if he is stuck on that price he can keep it..
I will find a good one someplace...
thanks for all your thoughts and help in making my impuls of buying go away...LOL

If you just have to have it, buy it. But know what youre buying. Don't go by what youre told. Get your hands on it. Drive it. Crawl all over it. Talk dirty about it's momma. Whatever it takes to keep from being taken.
