Have you comapred the wires to the wiring diagram? The 1976 wiring diagram is shown in two places on this site: http://www.oljeep.com/
- under "Wiring" and as part of the 1976 Jeep FSM.
You pretty much just have to trace out the harness to see where they go, compared to the diagram. In some cases you can identify the function of wires by their color code and location in the car and diagram. Under the dash, maybe not - there are a lot of circuits packed into a small area, and color/location likely won't be enough. You'll just have to check the color info, look at the diagram, and trace back the wires until it becomes clear what they are and where they go.
