Headlight relays
70 J-truck, (76)360, T-18, D-20, 4-10 gears. Headlight switch was over heating causing lights to quit after a half hour or so on bright, they would stay on on dim but you could still smell the heat. This happened after alternater upgrade to one wire unit, everything electrical, fan, light brightness, engine compartment clutter etc. much improved, but the switch weakness reared it's head. The relays were very easy to install, about 40 bucks at parts store for 12 ga. wire, 2 relays, quality connecters and inline fuse. The difference is well worth it, much brighter lights and switch stays cool to touch and no heat smell which is a bit unnerving. I drive the heck out of this truck, last 2 weeks put 2,800 miles on on a trip to east Ky. to get a job going, 22,000 miles sense last oct. when I finished building it. Been really enjoying this truck, not one break down. 14.5 MPG at 55 MPH, 11 or so at 70 MPH. Better lights make this all the better. Next 3-73 gears to give the 360 some relief and hopefully gain a MPG or two.

No part #, Auto value was the store, off the shelf 4 post relays with mounting tab. Another one of them things I wish I would have done sooner. Like how easy it was to fix the E-brake.

nice, hope you dont mind all the questions. did you end up putting the relays on the firewall or up close to the headlights themselves?
