Is one better then the other?

I like that US Wheel are American made.

I bought brand new cragar v-5s for my girlfriends xj last october. They are already rust staining at the seams. I'm not very impressed with them...

Dont know much about the us wheels. I would try them out myself.

I don't know if Crager is still USA made or not. Their plant down the street from ours shut down several years ago. Anyone?

I thought all the steel wheels made by companies like Cragar, US Wheel, ARE, etc. came from the same two or three factories in China.

There's not much you can do about the rust in the seams, especially in the salt belt. Some say to run a bead of silicone around the inside seam before mounting the tire but I can't see it making any difference.

dang I thought my Cragars on my TJ were made in the USA! Just because there such an old company.

I do have to say my V-5's have been great. A little surface rust at the seams where the powder-coating didnt reach, but its not spreading after 2 winters. Also I dented one pretty bad when I sliced a tire, was able to fix it good as new with a hammer!

IMO get the cheapest steel wheel you can find in the size you need. When I ordered mine from summit, I also ordered a set of TSL's. They gave me a very good price, and they were shipped to my door mounted and balanced. So thats something to consider if you need some new tires anyways.

The joys of not living in the salt belt...

I have Soft 8s on my XJ also and they are not rusted at all but my Jeep is a winter garage queen.

Some buddies in the local club run various steel wheels on daily drivers and they start to rust within the year or so. It can't be helped and is not a defect in the wheel per se.

Maybe they are all made in China......I checked US Wheel's web sight again. Their "Forged" wheels are made in America.

Thanks

Larry

I bought a set of cragars for my Mustang back when Ronald Reagan was President. They have held up just fine. But they may not make them like they used to....

The "made in china" stickers are probably made in the US if that helps....

Putting aside the popularity of the new Camaro, I might be a little wary of making a custom product for a GM vehicle 2 years ago, considering what was going on. Give it time.
