Dual gastanks

How many fellow J10 owners have a second tank behind the seat? other than mine I haven't seen another one yet.

I have an in-cab tank in my current project ('63 J200/J300/J20 conglomeration). The cab had the tank in it when I got it and plan on running it along with the stock location tank.

Does yours have a manual diverter valve of some kind? If so, where is it mounted?

Is the second tank behind the seat OEM?
The stock tank in my dad's 65 ford truck was mounted behind the seat and he had a spare tank built to fit in the bed. Don't practice fire juggling with the windows rolled up!

I have never heard of a J10 with a gas tank behind the seat. My J10's extra tank is where the spare tire should be at the rear. It is bigger than the factory one.

My 76 j-20 has a tank in the bed where wen you stick the nozzle, you are sticking it into a bedside saddle tank. It has a metal cover painted the factory color. No unleaded restrictor, just a big old hold for the petrol.

I had one but pulled it. Got tired of the cab smelling like stale gas.

I had a J10 with one. It fit well, mounted nicely and was in great condition so I pulled it before I scraped it.

Mines stock. Its the main tank, as the truck came from the factory as a Cab and Chassis. They came that way as there was no way of knowing where or how to put a filler neck in the back as it was nothing more than a bare frame.

PO, added a stock J-truck tank in the stock pickup bed location and fabbed a fuel filler inside the service bed.

There is a diverter valve as well as an electric switch and light with a second aftermarket fuel guage, but I have yet to figure out how to use the rear/second tank.

Tank

Diverter Valve of some sort.. Dont know what its for ???

Stock Filler location and locking gas cap

Rear Tank Filler ( and some of the spares that came with her.)

The DOT mandated that all tanks be removed from the passenger cabin around 1970. I'm sure the tank in your '77 was added by a previous owner.

here are pictures as requested: https://picasaweb.google.com/1062949...eat=directlink

work in progress. carpet has got to go, it has a different head unit in there which I am going to change again, has new seat belts, eventually get seats recovered, latch mechanism for the glove box, fix the gauges so those aftermarket ones can go, and find a new dash pad so that carpet cover can go. under the hood right now the list is new PS pump (works fine..but looking kind of old and may wanna add hydroboost) and heater control cable.

The PO of my J-10 installed a fuel tank out of a 54 Ford P/U behind the seat. I rermoved it the minute I got home with the truck. I just use the stock tank. My 72 F100 had the tank in the cab from the factory. Never had fume issue's just don't care for the fuel tank being in the cab with me.
