Offroad Race J-Truck Anaheim, CA Pick Your Part

I posted this on the SoCal FSJ site, but thought I would share it here also. I went to Anaheim and Stanton yards the other day. Nothing at Stanton, but found this j-truck at the Anaheim yard on beach blvd.

Looks like a 1979 j-truck offroad racer. Engine, trans, TC were gone. Interior mostly empty, but had great roll cage, front bumper, and wheels. Might go back for the wheels, but already have a few extra sets and cannot be buying all the wheels I see. Fenders were in decent shape. Front fenders had been trimmed in the front to go around the bumper tubes. Not sure if that would bolt right up, but first time I have seen that type of bumper on a FSJ

Was the front bumper bolt-on or welded? With the shackle reversal it is hard to tell. Thanks

Yeah...I was thinking the exact same thing. If I was out there I'd be asking how much they'd want to let you drag the whole thing home. Tires even look to be in decent shape!

If I had the space, I would be trying to get the whole thing home. Not sure if i would ever have a use for springs that big, but might not ever find another set like that.

Going back tomorrow, will see what is left and how much they want for the whole thing. Wish the HOA and city would let me keep it in the driveway for a few days.

If its just a couple days tell them to go suck a big di...toe. I hate HOAs, its your property, you pay for it, you should be able to do what you want on it.

Ha...that is good. I am with you on the HOA stuff, but they are actually really laid back here. Had my chief as a non-op in the driveway for a long time and they never gave me too hard of a time. Just sent encouraging notes to register it to get the angry "rules police" off their backs for a few days. The city never cracked down on it before, but they need cash from fines now.

I am sure I could get away with it for a few days or weeks, but not sure I will actually find the time to get it stripped and outta here in any reasonable time frame.

If anyone is really interested in the springs, let me know. I might be up for pulling them for you. Let me know.

They usually only last about 2 weeks at the yards out here. 4 if you are lucky.

Yeah, I have been out there a few times since and it was gone. That is a small yard with pretty fast turn around on inventory.

I think that was covered in Jeep Junkie with a bunch of other desert runner rigs a few years back.
