Wheres the best place to hook a tow strap up on a j10 without a reciever or any tow hooks?
I want to add some hooks as well but not sure really where I want to put them and dont want to do a lot of drilling on the frame. any ideas?

serehill,

Could we get a picture? I was thinking of making brackets to drop down from the bumper bracket / frame mount.

Any help would be appreciated!

I keep a "car hauler chain" in the truck, used to tie down vechicles on transports. They have several keys on the end that fit in frame slots on all cars and trucks.

I was thinking of using the T hooks like these
http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...ct_43572_43572#
would that work to pull a stuck vehicle out of the mud or what not?

That is one of the keys on a transport chain. There will be a diagonal slot in the frame, this fits right in and works great. I find them on the side of the road near the GM plant here in town.

I would strongly caution against using the slots in the frame. they are made for the special T type chains, those are rounded not like hooks.,

I have PERSONALLY seen a regular hook pull through the frame and rip a 6" slip in the frame while trying to pull someone out.

I might be new around ifsja but I have been 4wheeling in my my 1 ton YJ for over 12 years.

spend the money and do your recover pointsright. you do NOT want those to fail.

haha sorry, its the bracket to the left of the bumper rubber. its a u-shaped piece of 3/16in steel with another peice of 3/16 welded ontop. there is a hole on either side of the u, and one at the back that you put the on the bumper bracket bolt. i stuck a grade8 bolt and chain though the hole and pulled myself out of a ditch with them.
