There's a guy here who did it. Blue wag. Sorry, I can't remember his screen name. Real name is Chris, IIRC.

WOW, I guess I'm not as nuts as I thought.
My dad has a sweet '34 chevy coupe, ( I guess I should post some pics sometime) takes it to shows sometime. Long story short, I got a similar idea at one of those shows.
So, instead of just the hood, how about this.......................
Winch bumper with the brush guard on hinges and the whole front clip somehow tied in to it, so it all tilts forward like a semi front clip.
I know with our rigs it would be next to impossible, between the fenders clearing the doors and radiator and everything else that would have to be re-mounted somehow, but it would definitely be unique.
Just one of several (million) hair brained ideas rolling around in this hollow bone where my brain used to be. Guess the FSJ affliction ate that up a long time ago.

I think that would have to be a fiberglass hood. The metal ones are HEAVY.

These guys make two different styles for the FSJ's.

Last I heard about the hood was Chris was working on some changes. It is all metal and the hinge is a total fab job. I thought it was cool but there are some disadvantages to having it set up like that.
Here he is getting Hercules up Poughkeepsie playground in 2002.

Having that heavy hood land on you while you were under there adjusting the carb would make the yellow hook of pain seem like a picnic!
Had it happen while working on my 318 too many times

Sweet! Thanks Flint! What are the disadvantages of having it set up like that. I bet working on the radiator or accessories now sucks.

That Cherokee is awesome! He did the flip hood almost the same as I'm planning. The hinges and latches from an early 90's Lesabre work the exact same way, that's what I'm using. Thanks for digging up the pictures, I needed the inspiration.
