SOA questions

I posted this in the wrong section before, sorry

So I had a 79 Waggy briefly until it got totalled about 7 years ago. I did an SOA on ther front axle just before I got into the accident. Heres the thing, when I did my SOA on the 79 All I did was extend brake lines, extend front and rear drive shafts, weld new perhes set at 0 Degrees Caster and used a drop pitman arm. It drove beautifully with no issues. Now I wanna do the same on my new 86 waggy I got and all Im reading is how you MUST go with high steer and do all kinds of other mods for an SOA and Im confused as to why. My jeep was steady and safe, drove just fine and it was real flexy and did great on/off road. Did I just get lucky or are people on here being way to cautious?.

Anyway my new waggy is an 86, it has an AAL in the front and rear, some carved out fenders and im running some 35's on old school factory jeep mags. We are losing the emissions testing and id like to do away with some of the stuff that choking my motor out of power, where should I start?

You don't HAVE to do anything buuut if you think about it, a SOA gives you approx 7in of lift and a DPA give 4in or so(there may be longer DPA's, I just haven't seen them yet) of drop. That gives you 3in of geometry differance between your tie rod and draglink. As you hit bumps you COULD experience bumpsteer. By doing HiSteer or crossover steering it puts your steering geometry back where it should be.
I did a full HiSteer on my 89 and love it. It also gets the draglink out of the way of those steering parts killing rocks.
Ultimately you can build your rig however you want. One would hope its safe to drive and be around otherwise there may not be anyone to wheel with.
