Hood Latch issue

hey guys, so I have noticed that it is a pain in the Great Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogley to get my hood open most times. the drivers side release easy but the latch itself with the lever hardly works. Any thoughts or ideas to make that better?

PO on mine removed the hood bar and latch and installed CJ hood catches on either side bolted to the fenders. Works good, kinda rare for PO mods. The only thing I want to change about it is to install some sort of catch in the middle to keep the hood from rattling in windy conditions.

I have a similar problem. I removed the cable and greased up the release as well as I could. That seemed to help a bit but didn't correct it overall.

I left my flashlight in the dip in front of the radiator and closed the hood and it got really hard to open, the flashlight bent the bar that the cable hooks to and connects the 2 latches, same thing driver side would pop, but not the passenger side. Bent the bar back and preso fixed!
So check your bar.

oh and the flashlight, a 3 watt LED Brinkman - not a scratch
