Spring Lift/Tire combo Question (Variation)
Well I spent half of the weekend looking at "lift" threads on the site trying to gauge what kind of lift/tire combo I want to go with. Mmmmmm, tire porn. . .
I think what I would like to do is a lift, but keep the tires I have (because they're brand new and nice), and not go any bigger. So it has me wondering, how big of a lift can I go with stock tires before it doesn't look cool? More specifically, can I do the 4" lift, (I know the 2" would be fine).
Right now I'm running 235/75/15 tires on the stock rims. What are those, 28" tires?
Thanks,
Dave

If they are 28"s it would look wack. Wait till you can afford 31"s for a 4" lift. If the tire you have are in like new condition sell them and put towards new tires.

Yes, those should be 28" tall.
What Jeep do you have? Wagoneer/Narrow-Track or Cherokee/J-Truck/Wide-Track (the disclaimer here is that there are a few narrow-track cherokees out there).
Since there are so many variables, if you put your rigs' specs in your signature, it might help us out a bit.
Honestly, I think a 4" on a narrow-track wouldn't look all that bad for the time being.
With that said, keep in mind that if you have an older rig, (especially a wagoneer) the stock springs have probably settled an inch or so. So, a 4" lift will actually lift it 5" over where you started.
My J10 had all-season 275's on it with the stock springs when I got it...I actually had more than one person approach me and say "I didn't know Jeep made 2wd pickups..."

I didn't think of that.
Is that in fact what these tires are, is 28s?

I ran my 4" lift for several years before I finally got 31's. It doesn't look GREAT, but it doesn't look really funny, either.
Now if you stick 38" swampers under a stock M-715, THOSE look good.
Go ahead and get a 4" lift if that's what you're after. Run your tires until they need replacing and THEN upgrade. Don't worry if someone laughs at you. You'll still be having fun.

Do you have a picture that I could see? I couldn't find any in the threads I looked through.
