So apparently there's only THE 360
I know this is always a funny here, but had to share.Went to get my oil changed in the truck yesterday, and the guy said..."That thing got a 360? I had one in my Ford a long time ago." I told him they weren't the same except for two things, the displacement and the gas mileage, but he swore they were the same....Then had another guy tell me later in the day that he had a Dodge with THE 360. All I needed was a Chrysler comment to bat 3 for 3!

Everyone knows that if a engine has the same displacement number it must be the same motor.

What!? You mean I dont have a Dodge Magnum 360 motor in my 86 GW?
Hahaha, Yeah, hear that more than anything, 'Oh, I had a RAM/Dakota/Durango with that same 360 motor....' Blah Blah Blah....
That or I hear, '360? You put that in? Jeeps only had 4.0 straight 6's or 304 v8's....'

Beware when someone like this then offers to help work on your engine..

Tell him to go take a big whiff of that diff fluid and report back to ya. That crud smells like the southbound end of a northbound mule.

Yeah brand loyalty can make ya stupid. I don't get much of the it's a Ford motor thing but a lot of it's a Dodge motor ain't it? The longer Chryco owns Jeep, the longer it'll go on. Not too annoying when they ask but when they bow their neck and tell the owner he's wrong, all ya do is pity the poor guy never owns one and buys a bunch of wrong parts(some truths are hard learned). Look how long the 327 folks been hearing it's a Chev motor. I've met people who swore (cause their uncle's neighbors brother or some such worked for Jeep) believed the 230 OHC I-6 was a Pontiac motor. And that was back before the age of internet misinformation mass dumbing down.

Try having an older FSJ with the 327 under the hood. Sez it on the fender and everything. "Chevy motor, eh...?" "Ah...no..."
I'd describe what I feel punkin oil smells like but I'd sound as if I'm talking about finding fantastic vintage synthesizers of a popular make using a popular search engine. So let it suffice to say that it's a melancholy stench I usually associate with automotive death and decay.
