Tail gate weather stripping for 70 models
WHat are you guys doing for tailgate weather stripping for the 70 models?

not for the 70 model, I see weather stripping and glass to body seal. which are good. I need a tailgate seal

I've been wondering this too. Smells like exhaust everywhere I go....BJ's only lists theirs as 74+, and I dont think my 73 has the same strip, it mentions plastic clips, but I'm not sure if it attaches the same way...

How different is the 70's model from the 80's? Did the tailgate opening on the body change THAT much?

I put a 91 tailgate on my 69, On my 69 the tailgate had its seal on the body and a thinner seal on the tailgate itself but i think it was added by PO. The 91 had a beefy seal on the tailgate and none on the body.

Back when I had a tailgate, I installed a 78 tailgate onto the 70 body.
I was able to get it sealed with the newer weatherstrip reasonably well but it was never correct at the bottom. I wound up adding a little extra carpet there.
Wasn't perfect but it made me feel better.

When in doubt....add more carpet.
