When Trees Attack!

had a rather long hail storm and the elm the truck is sitting under decided to shed a branch. Ironically, it hit the bed in the ONE place where it's already bent, so no damage..didn't even scratch the paint! Pardon the mess.

Thank goodness it didn't hit your pretty pink and blue bike! J/K

That's great that it didn't hurt the bed. I love the look of the frame painted something other than black.

Yeah my daughter woulda been pissed if her bike got squished.

Yep, that was the original color I was going to paint the truck, but looked too fleshy for me, so went with Rusto Gloss Almond instead. I also like the lighter color, too distracting to have a black frame under a light colored body in my opinion.

I like the self loading firewood idea. At least it didn't bend the bed rails. I'm loving the longbox thriftside.

That's about the same size branch that tried to kill my waggy. We both got lucky didn't we? Only have a couple dents left to fix on the rain gutter. But your truck is a tough one.

Flint-yeah me too. Eying the limb hanging over the front of the truck, I may just have to give the ole girl a yank and see if it'll break that frozen drum loose...I am NOT putting another windshield in that thing..

Ok sorry for a little sidetrack but the "self loading firewood" brings to mind a story, this is from my dad who swears it is true.

Back in the early 70's when farmers could go to the county shops and buy dynamite, one of his (dad's) neighbors was uptown bragging about how good he was as blasting stumps, another farmer heard him and hired him to remove a stump. At the other guys farm dad's neighbor made a big show about setting the charge, then lite the fuse and they got back. The charge blew, the stump went in the air and came down....right on the cab of dad's neighbor's truck! The farmer that hired him was amazed and exclaimed "Another 4 feet and it would have been right in the bed where you wanted it!"

I hope it is a true story because that is way cool.

Nice truck too - glad you have no damage.

That's awesome

Yeah I dont care what anyone says..the steel in the 60's FSJ's is some SOLID stuff. I've ripped enough 70's era ones apart to stand pretty fast on that statement.

That bed and cab are 1963-4, rest of it is a 68. (no idea on the M715 fenders, but they are 60's era at least).

I am very happy I didn't have the fenders and skirting mounted, that woulda sucked.

that happened to Terry's Grand Wagoneer (back in georgia).. lightning split a tree in half, and dented the poor guys' roof. From what we've heard, that part of the tree has since been sawed off, to free his truck.. which is still a paperweight, as nobody drives it.
