see the hella ecodes i have...i loved with normal h4 bulbs. but i wanted brighter output, and i kind of got spoiled to a nice white on my cars HID's. But yeah when i get the adjusters from jaber. im going to check and see what the issue is. maybe they just need their 8hr burn in to get the output im expecting. otherwise i need to replace the bixenon hid bulb with a standard h4 hid bulb.

well got some work on the jeep done last night.

installed the rear window wipes...what a difference there.

also polished the rear bumper from a silverish yellow to a mirror finish. A mother powerball and some turtle wax chrome polish.

and also traded a case of bud light for this:

So that will be the next project to tackle, unless those headlight adjusters arrive soon.

LOL Well when the "Jeep" guy down the street asks you what youre wanting to do next to the jeep to make it run better. I said ide love a 4 barrel carb. he said...oh i have one of those. its urs. ???? lol awesome. then asked what else is on my wishlist...told him an edelbrock intake for the carb. he said, "oh i have one of those too, its urs." lol! asked what he wanted for the pair. he said...ah. case of beer. done~!

so i spent $20 bought him his beer. and picked up my carb yesterday. just gotta get the transmission kick down shaft on the carb to be the right thing. not sure where to get that from but i'll figure something out.

btw congrats on ur new toy!

Thanks, I have to get a radiator for it since this one is clogged and then run her through emissions.

a few have asked here is the key to the window regulators. in Colorado we get some crazy low and high temps. the tracks on the window regulators tend to wear out or break. so i replaced my window regulators with those from a 90-91 gw. also another not the left front and left rear are the same thing, same with the right front and right rear. so when buying these all you need to do is buy 2 driver side and 2 passenger side. and you are good to go. last note, mine required new bolts and washers.

so here is a pre 90-91*dont buy this kind

but this kind 1990-1991 grand wagoneer window regulators*notice the white track is not replaced with a vertical worm drive made of metal.

i had to drill new mounting holes 3/4" to the outside of the door(towards the handle to get it all to mount correctly.

well this week we completely overhauled my dads j2000 heating and cooling system. pulled and replaced the heater core, washed & painted the housing, ran all new hoses, replaced the 160 degree thermostat with a 195. and his heater will cook you out of the truck now. its great.

After we finished that i replaced the broken headlight adjusters with the ones i got for jaber(shown above) and got the headlights adjusted correctly. Still not thrilled with the pattern it puts out. but the headlight issue isnt yet done. well come back to that later.

However tonight the j2000 comes out of the garage. and my gw goes in. time to pull the stock intake with the 2150 and replace it with the sp2p intake(freshly back from media blaster) and put on the 4 barrel 1406. the nice thing is that i have my dads j2000 to use as a reference for all the vacuum line hookups. should be interesting to see how this goes. its the first time its been apart since its reassembly last halloween.

i'll keep you posted.

well tonight after dinner we spent an hour and a half and got the old 2brl intake removed and i started preping the surface for new gasket material. I had though ide put the intake manifold gasket on dry but i didnt, i had used red rtv. it did an amazing job. no leaks. so this time im going to do the same...but use black rtv. matches better. ive had a tick in my engine since the rebuild last october. finally figured out what it was.

click for youtube video

luckily it was on the side where i left the original lifters in place on the last rebuild. the passenger side lifters look great. and all the rods are straight as can be. so at least i found out what my ticking was from.

and while im this far, the cs144 install is just logical. the alternator is just right there anyways.

so here is where she sits tonight.

surfaces are "ok" but i'll finish them up tomorrow. and on the way home from work, i'll buy 8 new lifters. (and no preaching, i know lifters and cam is a good combo. but right now its just not happening)

GOOD LUCK!
thanks for following my build

last night i pulled some parts off the original carb. cleaned them up and installed them. also went ahead and painted the therm housing and got it mounted. also the brake manifold vac port.

well i know we like pictures during builds. so you all should sleep well tonight.

nicely finished after a bead blast and a nice stainless steel fill tube

this is the stock throttle/cruise control bracket in stock location. but it has to be moved over with an edelbrock bracket. this bracket needed a special screw...thanks to true value hardware store i found it.

you can see how it mounts

now its offset correctly to work with the 1406

i got the thermostat installed, and also painted up the thermostat housing. and installed a new temp sending unit.

snagged the manifold port for the brake booster off the old intake

installing the gasket

phenolic(sp?) spacer

new carb gasket

all assembled

old messy vac lines

non egr, clean and simple

throttle springs(lokar stainless steel)

just trying them on for size

a really neat shot.

so thats what was done tonight. tomorrow finish cleaning the surfaces to reinstall intake. and then pull my oem alternator switch pulley's and drop in the cs144 while everything is apart.

so tonight i took off the valve covers(new chrome ones come in tomorrow)
removed the rockers, and i had some crane cam shims in there (i installed them to reduce ticking....which was actually a locked up lifter and bent push rod)

replaced all the old lifters that i hadnt done last time. and replaced the pushrod that was bent. checked the wear on the lifters that were in there. it was phenominal. then finished cleaning the gasket surface, and installed the new intake and fully torqued it down.

well took a few hours but finally got my new vac setup installed and figured out where everything plugged in. got the engine fully assembled. and it fired on the first shot. it was setup super rich so we adjusted the timing a bit, that definately helped. sadly though my tick is back in 2 places now. so tomorrow after i pickup the new valve covers, the old covers are comming off and im gonna figure out whats going on. until then i dont feel comfortable doing anything but idling.

here is my assembled setup
