Tick TICK!

Recently developed a definite tick in the front drivers side head. Sound like the very front one. What should I look for, or care about?
mid 70'sish-(unknown..figure a 75+) AMC 360.

Leaning towards valve..might try a cure in a can

I have no particular affinity for this particular engine..if it blows, it's getting a 401 like it rolled off the factory floor with.

401 . . . Low compression pooch

Put some ported n polished 72'-76' AMC-401 heads on a 68'-70' AMC-390

Caution can cause poor rear tire wear

I HAVE FOUND THE TICK

Hey guys i had discoverd a tick as well, so i pulled of the valve cover and pulled the rocker arm off and rocker bridge. What i have found is that the rocker pivot ball and bridge are one piece. The pivots had worn and created burrs on the piviot witch created the ticking so i orderd new rocker arms, piviot, and bridge. The parts i orderd bridge and pivot were seprate pieces wich look like a better design. Here the part # from oriellys

Rocker Arm #R-875A about 3 bucks apiece
Rocker pivot #MR-1839 about 1 buck
Rocker Bridge#MR-1840 about 1 buck
These parts are made by SEALED POWER and look like a better design.
BY the way if this helps please let me know.
Theirs my piece

But it was since it went away once the wrist pin snapped.

LOL lots of bad juju in this thread. I'm hanging up some charms on the roof rack first thing tomorrow!

Gambler, if it sounds like it's coming from the top you may be in luck. A slightly longer pushrod might be a temporary fix if things are just out of spec, though usually any sort of valve tick means a lifter is going. I say junk the thing and go 401 (or 390, if you can even find one, Mike!)

winner winner chicken dinner...I hope. I'll scope it out soon. It's been a progressive tick over the past year. Sounds wear related vs frakking Armageddon like CJ's 'tick'

Hey gambler just pull one rocker and bridge and simulate same movement in your hand with rocker and bridge. Everything should be smooth and fluid with no roughness if seems ok pull another one the whole proceses shouldent take more than 45 min. shure hope thats the problem any case let me know

Wow, I find it hard to believe she still ran smooth! I don't think even an sbc could stand up to that kind of punishment...
