New To FSJ's...made a purchase...

Hey folks! You saw my other thread about possibly buying a 77 Cherokee.

Well...I found something I consider to be significantly better.

My new baby:

1973 Wagoneer.

Here's what i know:

The good:
-360
-Part Time 4wd with Warn Hubs up front
-BJ's Offroad 4" Spring lift. Still SUA. Less than a year old.
-33x10.50 BFG KM2's...less than a year old with warranty paperwork.
-It drives fantastically. Had it on the highway all day in he 100+ degree -heat doing 75 keeping up with traffic.
Seats and most of interior is in awesome shape

The bad:

-It has a ton of leaks from what I can tell...but doesnt look like anything too serious.
-Has an auxiliary fuel tank installed, and the original tank is in my back yard. So, I have no idea how big this fuel tank is (only the aux. is in the jeep). There's a switch and whatnot, but I dont know how any of that crap works.
-A little bit of rust, but I'll be trimming it off to fit the tires.
-Bumper rubs tires, i'll put it on and trim it this weekend.
-Buncha gauges don't work. Speedo and fuel and oil work though.
-Headliner is ripped and falling...oh well, gravity happens.
-All weather stripping is dry rotted to hell.
-AC stopped working this past year...I dunno why or what to do.

So, there you have it! 4wd works great! I'm super excited I found this. I've got receipts for over 2100 bucks worth of stuff in the past year. Also has a new alt, new starter, new master cylinder, and new drums and shoes. I drove it all day in the 100+ degree heat with no hiccups!

I'm looking for a little more information on it though as well. Specifically what transmission this would be, and what transfer case it is.

Thanks a ton, I'm psyched to be back in the jeep world.

Cool wag! you'll enjoy it. looks like it could use a tad more lift for the tires that are on it.

Man that looks to be in good shape. Almost a shame to cut it all up.

Yeah, it's only a 4" on 33's.

I'll only be doing a teeny bit of trimming in the back. maybe a 1" body lift. I don't want some crazy rig. it drives so nice as it is.

Seems to be the consensus. My dad even said "it's probably been leaking for 35 years" over the phone today, haha.

Very nice looking rig. I would love to find an old '70s rig like that. Either way, it looks nice. And the nice thing about all the leaks, it makes it easy to tell when you ran out of fluid. At least that is what all the helo crews tell me.

Nice and clean and straight! Amen! I see you have the fan shroud still, take good care of it, they are hard to find intact. Your TH400 will quit leaking when you have it on the bench. I like the looks of the Cherokees, but I use my back doors all the time, far more than the tailgate. How you like the looks people give you in your "road relic"? I love it!

I'm wayyyyy over east side, Sunrise Mountain area. I picked it up in Mountains Edge.

Thanks for all the comments guys! I'm so glad I found a keeper, its so close to original, I already love it.

I already started the work! I used my master skills to tighten the side mirrors, and to straighten the steering wheel....bahahaha. That was a fun 5 minutes.
