She's not that fat right?
In Washington state I get charged an extra $30.00 a year in registration costs if my vehicle is over 4000lbs. I was not aware of this when I transferred the title to my new J10. So it weighed in at 4200lbs. So my new goal is a reweigh. Round two will include no tools (I was going to pull and save and had about 70 lbs of tools with me. No jack or spare tire, empty in the gas tank, and no tail gate. I am also thinking about dropping the front drive line and swapping my rims from 31X10.5 steel to 235/75 on aluminum rims. I was wondering If anyone else had a good idea to drop some weight without going overboard. I will of course swap all this back after the weigh in. I also wondered if anyone had weighed their Waggoner and/or J10 and remembered how heavy it was.

kinda depends on what you make per hour.
if doing all that would take a couple of hours... it wouldn't be worth it to me...

How does your registration work? Ours goes of the GVRW not the actual weight of the truck, you can license less than the GVRW on the truck but you can not haul over your weight.

Kinda what I was thinking. Seems like an awful lot of work just to save $30. Remove AND reinstall all that? Not me.

Thirty may not seem like a lot but that is thirty every year. If I get it on record that it weighs less than 4000lbs I never have to get it weighed again. $30.00 times 10 years of ownership $300.00, $300.00 Times the 3 FSJs I have equal 2 new wagoneers plus stiking it to the man for putting a weight class on my 300lb motor cycles when some people walking across the street weigh more than that.

My GW was 4520...no way I could easily shave 500+ lbs.
If you're that close (4200) you should be able to lighten it enough to squeak under 4k?
Take everything you can off of it, and go for it. $30 is $30.
I find any and all possible ways to deprive the DMV of my money!!!!!

+1 on that. If I have the time I would take it to stick it to the DMV! They have never made my life anything but difficult.

You're probably already there with what you have planned.
You could also temporarily swap in a smaller battery from another vehicle (a motorcycle battery would even work). If you're using a clutch fan, I think you can take the clutch mechanism off, and run it direct.
Also if you haven't done so already, this would be a good excuse add in certain mods you already planned for later. Like switching to an Edelbrock Air Gap manifold, Performer heads, Headers. Radiator shot... replace now with aluminum. Sure it's way more than the $30, but if you were planning on doing it eventually, why not?

I like where you are going with this but I dont think those parts are going to fit on my 256 I-6. I think I will swap out the parts and weigh it this way and If that dosen't do it I will take off the hood. Sill leagal just hope I don't have to go that far.

Welcome to Washington! The biggest little subdivision of California. You sure the extra $30 isn't just for new plates rather than a yearly charge? WA has cute program where every few years new tabs aren't enough and you have get brand new license too. Guess the states unemployment mess has even hit the prison system too. Reason I ask is I just tabbed my F250 4WD w dsl and it was $45 like everything else I have even the bikes. WA isn't real good getting vehicle info. They have my BMW R1200GS bike scale wt at 900#!. Sheesh granted it's a big pig and handles better than anything two stories tall has a right to but 900#? Closer to 525-550 wet.

That's the GVWR not curb/scale wt. 6200 is what the vehicle is legally allowed to weigh fully loaded including the vehicle, cargo, fuel, driver, etc.

I think it is because I live in the city. They think they need to pave over the pot holes . Makes so I have to drive somewhere to start wheeling instead of my daily commute. On a bad year with new plates it would run me about $90.00+/-. About 65 +/- on a regular year. Times the eight vehicles I own starts to add up. SJs cost the most. XJs and bikes cost the same go figure.

Don't forget to put helium in the tires. It worked for me in NJ.
