T-90 Transmission w/Dana 20 Tfr case
'62 flat-fender PU w/Tornado engine.
Tranny was getting hard to shift, so I opened it up - lots of metal shavings
Need advice - would a rebuild be cheaper/better than just replacing the whole thing. I see a T-90 near here (Seattle area) for $265 and thinking hard about just saving myself some work and getting that.
My having the time and space to work on this is an issue also - no garage.
I put new oil in and I am able to drive, but I want to be ahead of this, and I use it quite a bit for hauling trash, yard waste, etc...
ThanQ..

I rebuilt mine, and although it is not that hard, the snap rings are a PITA. By the time you purchase the parts, and good snap ring pliers, you spent a couple of bills anyway.
Save yourself the aggrivation, and purchase the one mentioned. Now you have spare parts...

If that T90 has been rebuilt(not just re-sealed) it's a fair price but if it hasn't been it just another old worthless T90.

Thanks, I'm leaning toward doing just that...

Anyone still swap in the muncie four speeds for the T-90's
Use to be the hot ticket, the T-90 is not a very good tranny behind
a the 6 in a truck.
(I had a lot of fun in my 4 popper t-90 wagon way back, but the tranny is a pretty weak unit and you have to get the
touch (double clutch) just right to do the down shift into first)
