Not being one top like 2WD's.......I completely love this thing!!!! I would love to see a J-truck like this as well. I could see a 454 Chevy Big Block or Dodge 440, with all the trimmings, pulling low 9's

An excerpt from the article - 520 HP 401 AMC:
"We personally observed several 12.0 passes at the '05 AMC Nationals in Cordova, Illinois. Why not faster? Todd hasn't installed a roll bar yet and had to let off to avoid getting thrown out by tech inspectors for breaking the 11s sans safety equipment"

My first car was a 1968 Camaro that I bought in 78 for $500. It needed an engine, transmission repaired. I bought a 12 bolt posi for $150, a M22 for $150 plus the M20 that I had. Put a rebuilt 327 into with the following new, 650 Holley, Torker II intake, Hooker Headers, 3200# clutch and it had the 2.02 heads. Sold it for $1500.00 three years later. The guy I sold it to got hooked on pain killers from crushing his back, lost his home and had no where to store it. It sat outside without a windshield in it for two years. He parted it out. The last thing that was left was just the shell from the firewall back over a year ago and it was rusted out. I was so sad seeing it just rotting on the ground. Couldn't believe what an addiction would do. Went to buy it and saw it was really a total loss. Even the dash had been removed with the steering wheel lying on what was left of the floor boards. He hadn't wanted to sell it and thought he could just buy back the parts to put together the Camaro once he got his life back.

I'm one for buying projects that AREN'T worth much, just for that reason. That's why I have a '79 J-10, and my brother has a '79 Chrysler Cordoba 300. They were cheap to buy, and both were in extremely bad shape. I don't look at project cars as an investment. I'd have to get one heck of a deal on a classic to make it an investment, but I'd rather build something I can drive the h3ll out of.
There's a show on Discovery where this jerk tries to get muscle cars from people, (hoping to rip them off, I might add), and builds them into "super" muscle cars to be sold at auction. Because he's such a scumbag, the few times I've watched the show, I keep hoping he'll go WAAAAY over budget and lose his arse on a bunch of em.
It bugs me to see cherry classics cut up for hot rodding. As long as it's GM crap they're cutting up, I'm ok, cuz it was junk to begin with. I just get mad when it's something that was worth saving. That being said, I am a firm believer in that, if it's yours, do with it what you will.

Like you said, it's his money and the people sell them sooooo.... it's his and he can do with it what he wants.... Kind of contradicted yourself above.

It's not a contradiction to say how I feel when I see one chopped up. It's two different statement.

First Car
My first car was a '75 Plymouth Scamp. I started driving in '83. My dad bought it used in 1980. Funny because that thing seemed really old when we got it. It was rusting out and had faded paint after only 5 years.
Did my first engine job on the Slant 6 in that Scamp. I loved that ugly car
We sold it a few years later for around a $100 I think.
But yeah back to the conversation...I'm happy with FSJs being cheap...it means you can have more than one I'm not in it for the money. I love going to car shows and checking out the classics but I'm not going to spend 50k on a show queen (ok well maybe some day when I have more money than I know what to do with). I enjoy driving my Jeeps too much. If it's worth that much you'd be afraid to drive it.
I would like to acquire an AMC Javelin though. And the prices still seem somewhat reasonable on these, at least compared to other muscle cars from the era.

In my area in Baltimore, the only old car guys have either chevys are something very popular and are kinda of snooty about them. They turn there nose up at my j10, some also say it is a rebuild crap from dodge. It is also sad half of them had there cars built, nothing wrong with that but if it sounds like there 500hp under the hood you should know more then what type of gas into the tank.
