I kinda feel like a dolt...

Was rebuilding a BW1339 this weekend I had removed from a older Jeep pickup I bought a year or so ago and was ready to install the chain I purchased about a year ago from BJ's and found the new chain didn't come close to fitting (read a lot of sag) I figured BJ's must have packed the wrong item and contacted them to see if they would fix their mistake. Was responded to by them saying it's been over a year but they would like me count the links just to be sure. I thought they had sent me the OD chain by mistake or it was packaged wrong. To make a long story short, I found out the T-case I was redoing had been converted at some time in the past to the 16% OD. Thanks BJ's for helping me figure out what the he77 was going on. So now I have a new stock Morse chain but need the OD chain. I guess I could use the other stock 1339 I have stashed back but in thinking over everything I will go with the 16% (it's going in Mikki's truck) so now I get to order another new chain.

Again, thanks to BJ's for making it all crystal clear.

Alan

The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.

Well, I am smart enough to use google to find out what dolt means. I bet you could sell the MM kit to help offset the situation Alan and put the new chain in another QT.

I put an OD QT in Krista's Wag once and it had to go. I rebuilt the original and put it back in. With 32s and 3.07 gears we had to run the mountains in 2nd gear with the OD.

my brother called me a dolt my entire childhood.

welcome to the club!

bummer about the chain. I have found working on an old FSJ that may have been 'touched' by creative people can make for lots of mysteries.

several times I've considered calling Angela Lansbury to see if she could make sense out of what I was looking at...

good luck amigo! you'll get it!
