Question tranny question

1980 J10,360,727 I believe.
PO replaced the original carb with a holley. he did not hook up the kickdown lever to the carb and I dont know where to hook it to. it is a metal rod type not a cable the little lever on top of the tranny moves either in towards the center or out towards the drivers side. when at center I have power but it seams to move on its own and I lose power. is there anyone that can tell me how to hook this thing up where it will work properly ? thanks
