Picked up first FSJ

I got an 88 Grand Wagoneer. 360 engine 44's front and rear

I new to FSJ's but not new to Jeeps. I've always loved and wanted a Grand Wagoneer.

I currently have a 98 Cherokee (Built to weekend wheel):

and a 2006 Commander (mildly built, HEMI powered):

I had a 88 Wrangler and 88 Comanchee in the past.

I know search is my friend, but I want to know some pros and cons on my Waggy. It currently doesn't run, but will crank. What are some good threads for upgrades like TBI, SOA, and junk yard upgrades? Where can I find replacement seat covers or can other vehicles seats be swaped in? I can fab.

Look forward to getting to know you guys.

Looking good. I bought my first FSJ about 2 years ago... Upgraded from my Wrangler Sahara. I just bought number 6 yesterday - 5 of which I still own. Looks like you have room to park the others you will undoubtedly buy though. Some of our more experienced members have some good links in their signatures. There are lots of options out there. Just have to decide which ones are for you and which ones you can afford!

Get all the other parts you have together. I will have the money. I had the money last friday but someone fell off the face of the earth that day. It just cost me more money in gas to drag an anchor of a trailer back to Murfreesboro a second time.

It's a good thing the PO (won't mention any names) is adjust the price to compansate.

12 acres and a rock garden. If I keep it up I'll have a Jeep graveyard.

what parts do you need? i have a stock air cleaner, an ignition box(the one on the fender), and an extra alternator, intake manifold and carby. as far as paying, i'm just breakin balls, not trying to getcha all butthurt. i thought i had an extra power steering pump, but i can't find it. they're not expensive, and even cheaper to rebuild. i think we could prolly just silicone the reservoir on that one and get a new fill cap, and you'll be gwavy. i'm not too great with wiring, but i'll keep you company and hold a light if you need it. or i'll help you put the axles under the xj
as i said on naxja, i lost my phone, so internet is all i've got right now...

Air cleaner and maybe ignition box. I thought you had a power steering pump too. I'd like to find an engine bay harness.

look up my thread, "got meself a free waggy", somebody there was trying to sell me a wiring harness for $100 or so shipped, but i thought that was a little much.
i gave shawn all of the wiring that was on a motor i got in south carolina, from an 83 cherokee with a 360, but i'm not sure what he did with it. it's likely to actually be somewhere in the jeep? i'm not sure... i'll bring those parts with me to chapel hill tomorrow when i go to jacob's to work on my xj.

Cool, there is a harness in the passenger floor board. I'll pull it out and look at it.

I also need to find an ignition key cylinder. It's pretty jacked. I wonder if one from a ford is the same.

The key cylinder you need is a GM part.

I have owned my waggy for a few months now, but I have a few pros and cons, here they are:
PROS
-They will turn heads upon arrival
-The 4WD is pretty amazing
-They are fun to drive!

CONS
-They will leak oil, but some TLC will fix that
-They rust (like any other vehicle)
-They can be gas hogs

Also, have you checked the connections to the distributor or the ignition box? That is where I would say the problem could be.

In my experience so far, these trucks are easy to work on since they really don't involve much computers or fuel injection at all.

Good luck, and Welcome from the Sierra Nevadas!

That sounds like every Jeep I've owned. The only one that doesn't leak oil is my Commander.

I'll check those connections.

Thanks,
