sportside/townside bed interchange?
did some searching but didn't get any good answers. will a '78 shortbed townside bed fit my '81 sportside? i don't want to see this crushed. it's only the second jtruck i've seen in the yards here in two years. (the other is in my garage). the tailgate is $50 but the whole bed is $199. this was someone's project that wasn't finished. it's basically just a body, frame and axles, but the body is in primer, and looks like it was all straightened out. there is still tape on some chrome trim. there is a chrome step bumper with curved ends, not end caps, marked 'jeep special equipment'.
half price day is about three weeks away, i don't think this will last that long.

The bed is a direct bolt on, the filler neck to the fuel tank will be different... might grab the early gas tank with the bed if possible.

well, i'm not getting rid of the sportside bed, just wanted to know if i could swap it. the sportside bed is prettier, the townside more practical. and i've heard of fiberglass fenders being stolen. for $200, this bed would be good. i didn't see any rust underneath this rig, but the top of the bed floor had rust from where the PO had a bunch of cardboard catching the rain.
