I started the old girl up and she ran PERFECT for about a minute and then nothing. I poured a bit of gas in the carb and a dragon appeared in its place. I almost $#&* my pants especially after I threw the small container (about a half cup) across the parking lot and it flamed everywhere (not good).

So the issue is maybe I ran out of gas. Since the guage doesnt work I dont know. But I did put 3.5 gallons in and it still wont run. I did upgrade to TFI yesterday. Everything is wired correctly and when it ran yesterday and today (earlier) it ran extrordinary!! So I have no clue what the problem is. I have run out of gas before and it was a son of a gun to get running again!

Any good suggestions?

well ,i would start of course with checking fuel pump output run a hose from the fuel pump into a gas can and crank engine. see if pump is outputting fuel. if so check spark ,easiest way is with inductive timing light if timing light flashes you ougta be getting spark, unless of course all 8 plugs are fouled.absent that maybe a sticky float .peep down into your carburetor and actuate the throttle accellerator pump should pump gas into the venturis.maybe you might want to try that before you unhook pump.
